    some help please

You'll need a preamp, then a soundcard with an ADC (analog to digital converter) to change the signal and put it on your computer. Or you can go for an all in one solution (pretty much the same thing as above in the same box). Oh, but you'll have to check with compatibility with your...

    Compressor suggestions?

Out of curiosity why do you need four channels? Also, what are you recording to? If it's your computer you can probably get a nice software one for $150 and it can be used as much as your computer can handle.

    Compressor suggestions?

If you want a REALLY good one for $175 you can get a FMR RNC. It'll stay around with you for years. It's stereo compressor, so you can do two tracks as long as they can go through with the same setting.

    Signal chain question.

Yeah, if you just use a straight TRS cord (instead of my freaky ass split one) from the Insert to the Left (mono) in then it uses the Tip to send the information, and the Ring to send it back.

    Signal chain question.

In search for the Golden Channel (C'mon you pansy!)

You know to be honest I'm going to be recording any musicians that want something done. I assume though since I'm in the local "scene" that most of my stuff will be metal/punk/rock/indie/emo/ska/hardcore type stuff. Thanks for the recommendation on the Phoenix. I saw it mentioned earlier as a...

    Is this possible???

They have switcher boxes that you plug the monitor, keyboard, and mouse all into that go to both boxes and can switch between them for both.

In search for the Golden Channel (C'mon you pansy!)

Now I know you've already said a lot in this thread and I thank you for that and I don't want to make this a chore, but do you think you can make a few more comments on any of those that you have used? What you think are good for certain things? For all around mic pres? If you could have one...

changing sound recorder bitrate in windows XP

You'll need an ADC. What are you using? If you're using a soundblaster you might as well quit while you're ahead. :) In order to mix down to your computer and make it GOOD, you want to mix down to a .wav file. You want a good program to do that. N-tracks is great for a beginner (or just...

Are you talking about this one? http://www.mercenary.com/toaudeat.html For a grand you get two channels with EQ and Compression. Sounds pretty nice. I wonder what the quality is like? Okay, here's the list I have right now of pres to look into more: Audix...
