Even though the mixes are pretty similar, the second mix seemed a bit better balanced to my ears. Particulary the vocals. I was listening on Blue Sky monitors if that info helps any.

My old housemate bought a set of Starclassics a few month before he moved. They sounded great and looked even better. We especially liked the tones from the bass drum. TAMA's hardware is great too -I've had a Rockstar kit since 1999 and it still, um, rocks. So two thumbs up for TAMA.

It's actually pretty easy to crack a cymbal or set of hats if you hit them wrong.

Very interesting. I had these issues with Cubase VST (before SX3). Sometimes exporting with the Real time option fixed it but not always. It was VERY frustrating to say the least. Which version are you running?

This is just a shot in the dark, but maybe it's delay compensation? My MIDI latency was pretty low until I added an external effect. So maybe try starting a new project from template w/o any effects and see if it's any better?

In the manual it also explains to hold the "shift" key while moving the slider for more smaller incremental adjustments. Or double-click the number and type in the exact amount you want. Also, if you hold the "cntrl" key when clicking, it resets to "0".

We've been using the Fireface 800 since November 2005. Performance has been flawless. We record @ 48k/24 bit, mostly live recordings. Twelve audio tracks (ten analog and two via SPDIF) plus MIDI (14 tracks total).
