    Laptop with no midi???

I'm able to play audio files with my laptop but it doesn't have MIDI Out device. I know most desktops have MIDI device eventhough you don't have MIDI interface. What can I do so that I may play MIDI files on my laptop? Also is there any stand alone softsynth that doesn't require you to have...

    Need help on Q10/BlueMax setup

I need an instruction on Aardvark Q10 soundcard and Presonus' BlueMax compressor set up. Q10 has 4 TRS inserts and BluMax has stereo ins and outs. Do I still need a Y cable? What cable goes to where, etc... I have always put BlueMax between my guitar and the sound card and have never been...

Question for those with their Sonar 3.0 P.E.'s

This is how I understand. Disc 1 contains purely Sonar stuff (with all the DXis, of course) Disc 2 and 3 contains materials for Vsampler... Disc 2 appears to have several demos from several sources. Disc 3. has Piano stuff and it seems to be a complete sample set. Here's the problem I see...

    How to fade out?

I was auditioning "Symptom.cwb" that comes with Sonar 3.0.At the end of the song they had a wonderful fade out. I checked to see if there're any fadeout curves but I didn't see any. How did they do that. The song is awesome, by the way.

How do you record Virtual Instruments?

Virtual Instruments like Virtual Guitars have plenty of styles but what do you do to record more than one style (regular sound + pitch-bend sound, etc.) in one track? Do you use several tracks and sub mix them? Thanks.

Sonar doesn't see my sound card?

I just installed Sonar 3 and found out that Sonar won't play any file at all. The different between Sonar setup and my other sequencer is that " Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" is not listed in Sonar as MIDI device. What can I do so that Sonar will see this device? (This was a recent problem...

    Using USB drive

Lately my diskspace is getting smaller and smaller so I thought I would give the USB drive a chance. So I save my song on the USB drive and set to use all the 16 buffers. When I play the song the USB drive cannot handle. Hmmmm, Is there a way to speed up the USB drive?

How many audio tracks can you play?

Hmmm! there you go. I did reprofile some times but not every time I move the slider. So that could be it. Thanks alot. I'll experiment with that.

How many audio tracks can you play?

I tried to defrag and my system said I don't need to. I have played with various buffers and latency settings. They didn't help much. I'm playing JV1010 MIDI, so I really do need to convert them to audio. Right now, I'm archiving finished tracks while converting newer ones. I'm going to have...

How many audio tracks can you play?

Thanks. I think I have gone through the optimization check list in the past. I'll do that again. It would be nice to be able to play 20 tracks. That's more than enough for me. I appreciate all your help.

How many audio tracks can you play?

    Sonar not properly closed?

Lately I'm having a situation where I would quit Sonar but in Taskmaster Sonar is still listed as running. If that happens I cannot open other software like Wavelab to "master" what I just exported from Sonar. Also I would not be able to shutdown my XP machine. (I tried defrag but...

How many audio tracks can you play?

You're right. It's a system thing. Not Sonar's fault. My system is 1.4G with 512KRAM Celeron. It's just that I was able to record an impressive number of MIDI tracks and now I'm unable to convert them to audio. (How helpful will it be to get a 2.6G machine? --- just dreaming at this point) Like...

How many audio tracks can you play?

I used to boast around that my DAW is capable of recording unlimitted number of tracks. Now that I'm at the mixing and mastering state of my project, I discover something unpleasant. As I convert MIDI tracks to audio Sonar is experiencing dropouts. The most I could play (4 minutes long song)...

    Why two mono drum tracks?

Cakewalk has a demo song: Don't Matter. In it, it has two mono drum tracks (spanned left and right)... What is the purpose of having two tracks instead of one stereo track? (Are the two mono tracks came from one original track or are they seperately recorded?)

    Struggling with Wavelab

I belong to the Cakewalk Clan so I'd rather like to ask my Sonar family members here some mastering questions. Thing is, I'm struggling with Wavelab 4.0. I'm not good at reading the manual. It's frustrating at times. Here are my problems. 1. when I apply Multi-band Compressor things sound...

    How do you normally mix?

Thank you Blue Bear for Mixing 101. The next questions I have for you are very important for me. It must sound silly for you but I just have to ask. Please be gentle with me now. :-) 1. Your frequencies table suggests both Bass drum and Bass Guitar Bottoms to be at 60 or 80Hz . Wouldn't that...

    How do you normally mix?

Can you explain a bit more about subtractive eq on bass and drums. That may be what I need to do in my mix because my bass is disappearing at certain parts of the song. I'm using Sonar. Thanks.
