    Weird Glitch

When the problem occurs I've removed vsts from the track, however the problem remains until I restart reaper.

    Weird Glitch

I've not tried it without the vsts, however it has happened with two different vsts.

    Weird Glitch

I'm not entirely sure this is a reaper issue but thought it the best place to start. I'm working on a song and keep having a recurring fault where the signal on a guitar line in will suddenly become horribly distorted...not loud and smooth, just weird sounds and unusable. I've never had it on...

    Acoustic Rock Ballad

You've done a really good job there and theres nothing stands out as needing work other than adapting to taste. Nice recording and nice song. Mark

Thanks...I like some of their stuff although not a massive influence. I'll hopefully be getting vocals on it next week and get to work on eq for the guitars.

Quite like the chilled vibe on this. Similar to your other post,, I'd try a different reverb on your vox to make them sit better and at times they sound way too upfront so perhaps get some compression on them. If you want to try out some free reverb vst have a look at dragonfly and backwater. ?

Absolutely...since starting using reaper I dont worry too much about an exact structure before starting to record as the cut and paste is so smooth with a grid....never mind perfecting a solo before I hit record ?

Thanks for the listen...the drums are done on MT drummer so I'll be having my first go at editing the midi patterns and play a little. High passing the guitars? That's a level of mixing/ editing I could well lose my way in but I'll have a look. Mark

    when I was alive

Brilliant synths and I love the verses..vox awesome in tone and style...and well recorded.... You seem to lose your way on the chorus. The lead is irritating and seems thrown in for no benefit and the distorted guitar is not sitting well at the mo. The song deserves working on. Mark

Cool song...I definitely think you can get that vocal sitting more comfortable in the mix with a combination of eq and using a different reverb with more air to it. The vocal sounds quite heavy on the mid range EQ. Minor quibbles though cos the song shines through Mark

    rock song

Those guitar tones are full of body...pretty full on the low end and sounding good. Mark

I'm not sure you need to redo anything but then I dont know which version I'm listening to. It sounds whimsical and playful and yeah a touch of the Beatles about it. The drums do sound a bit muffled but depends what sound you're after. The vocals sound fine at those levels to me. I love warm...

    "Cry of the Young" VIDEO

Smooth tune. Quite effective in its simplicity. The way you have the the piano refrain going on throughout reminded me a little of Roscoe by Midlake. Your vox sound good but I'd revisit the part where you're going up an octave 'for 'cry of the young' as you're not quite hitting it. Mark

The Luckiest man in the World

Cool song and really impressive mix. Nothing stands out as needing any particular work...really like that doubled but different vocal passage...only minor criticism is that the vocal in the intro sounds a bit meh...nice work Mark

making mini songs to practice mixinng (metal)

The drums do get a wee bit drowned out behind guitars but they've got good energy and you've done a good job based on that small section. Mark

Thanks for the listen guys ? Do you mean the hand drums in the background or the main drum? The intro was supposed to sound quite rustic and was mostly toms with the main drum giving some impact...I'm no drummer so will try and get it to sound a little more authentic rather than a fader being...

Afternoon It's been a good couple of months since I last got anything finished and lockdown means the house is never clear of a crying baby or noisy child... so vox are just gonna have to wait on this one. Feedback on the instrumental version would be greatly appreciated... Mark Where The...
