    Cant stand my marshall

A bit of Marshall History Everyone knows the old marshall set to 10 sound of the 60s. A lot like the Fenders of the time, 2 gain stages, sounded wicked. Then came the jcm 800s used by tonnes of bands still today. 3 gain stages, lot's of gain if it's up loud but it's not "metal" unless you...

    Cd Burner?

I read somewhere that burning cds slower is better, less jitter producing errors or something along those lines. I don't know how exactly, but red book CDs aren't blobs of digital data, it's streamed off of the cd, so if it's a "soso burn", even though all the data can be retrieved, like to a...

    Noisy Fans

I've had a lot of Zalman stuff over the years, it's usually pretty good. Make sure what you get fit's properly in your pc. I like to buy cpus just after the model has had a die shrink because they tend to run cooler than their rivals.

    I hate reverb.

    that's bang on

    I hate reverb.

I've been starting to move away from reverb in general. It's becoming one of those things I used to think I had to do that I'm starting to think I don't have to do. Just a touch or a heavy hand as an effect is kind of the direction I'm currently going. A lot of digital reverbs suck, if you...

    DMP3´s low cut

I tried it a couple of times and have never really been tepted to use it. I couldn't say it sucks, I don't really know any better, but for what it's worth, I never use it.

    Audiophile 192 soundcard

you'll need to re-enable your onboard card to get the midi synth back, that shouldn't be a problem, Make sure to set the delta to be your default device in the control panel. Check out the monitor mixer for bouncing your midi tracks. I've never had to do this but if you were doing it before...

    Interesting Converter Comparisons ...

well I listened to a few seconds on both tests. The cheapo one was a contendor for me on the first and number two was making a case on the second test. The big money 3 otion always sounded pretty good but never seemed to make a case for the blue ribbon, maybe because it was at the bottom of...

Want to build a new DAW...What do u think of this?

just wave a window around the screen, you'll get a crisper response from a better card. All cards are not created equal in 2D performance and quality. No you won't max it out per say, but there is a difference.

Want to build a new DAW...What do u think of this?

I noticed the difference in 2d performance going from a Kyro I to an ATI 9250 or whatever it is I have now. And neither of those were el cheapo cards, although the Kyro has a lower clock speed compared to cards of it's day due to it's unique architechture that may have been part of the equation...

Want to build a new DAW...What do u think of this?

actually, be carefull there, while that's more or less true, better video cards can have more extensive and faster 2d hardware support as well. When and how much of a diff that makes is hard to say, especially since they are all really fast these days, but it's not like there's nothing for the...

    mic comparisson

There's a big difference in their freq response, visit the websites and check out the graphs. http://www.studioprojectsusa.com/pdf/b1.pdf http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/resource_library/literature/0c8b78f4de66c1df/at4040_english.pdf The B1 peaks out around 10k, the 4040 closer to 5k and is...

    newbie Latency, Souncard Question

celerons are light weight, but they crunch floating piont numbers just fine. What they aren't is business cpus with fat pipes and big caches. DAWs can stress just about every part of the cpu depending, so more is always better. Still a 1.9 celery isn't that bad a start if you ask me, are you...

    Word Clock Clarification

And Ya Golden, I do this, the tab is called "Hardware settings" and you can open the delta control panel by digging it out of the windows control panel or double clicking the delta icon in your system tray, if explorer hasn't crashed on you "this boot", it doesn't reappear after a crash. The...

    Sm57 Poll

I say, great mic. I have a few other mics in a similar price range but I really think it does what it does better than the others. Although Msst of the time I'm more interested in what the others do. I'm not sure it's really the most usefull mic when starting out, but I can't see owning one...

    M-audio 24/96 spdif In

that should work then, I have no idea what to expect if you mismatch word lengths. You have to use the digital in interfraces to capture audio from them. This may be transparent if you've got the monitor mixer set as the default device, I'm not too sure how it would work. But if you've got...

    best investment?: mic or monitors?

This depends on the room. If it's a small drywalled room and/or a low cieling the difference is night and day as far as I'm concerned. I've been converted and am a believer.

    best investment?: mic or monitors?

ya, if the m-audio studio3 are really not great then maybe there's nothing to discuss.
