Bringing bass out in a mix

i usually boost a bit around 3-4k and 100hz. some light compression about 2:1. sometimes i will sidechain a compressor triggered by the kick. this allows the bass to be a bit louder in the mix, but the bass drum can still punch through. seriously though, ymmv. i must say, it has been MUCH...

keep in mind i am looking for quick and easy. i dont want to have to hunt down a rack of amps, then try and convince the FOH engineer to let me start plugging and unplugging in his rack. read the link i posted above. looks like it should work without any issues...

my application: i am a drummer. i play live with a click. i have a small mixer that i want to use to blend my monitor feed and click signal; which will then be monitored with my wired in ears. i want to make it streamline and quick to do so as setup time is limited. my idea: to take a parallel...

How to Beef Up my Drum Tracks?

get yourself a big juicy hunk of beef. then, solo your drum tracks and assign them to an output of your interface. take a 1/4" out (2 if you want stereo) and plug it deep into the beef. take another 1/4" (again 2 if stereo) and run it back to your interface and record the result. the level of...

    what is this major called?

i am pretty sure it is commonly known as "recording arts". this is the whole enchalada though, i dont think there is a degree in just "mixing"... it is pretty important to understand the whole process, and not just mixing. many colleges have courses for this like MTSU, but there are also...
