Ok, I'm gonna install today. Just watched the audiosnap movie on the install DVD. That looks like a cool feature.

    Upgrading to Sonar 6

One would think. However, skimming the manual did not even touch on the subject. Not in the contents or index. Not even mentioned opening a file. Amazingly enough they refer to the online help. Unfortunately, by that time it could be too late. It does mention a little in the setup section and...

    Upgrading to Sonar 6

I just purchased the upgrade to Sonar 6. I'm currently using Sonar 2.2. Before I install the upgrade, is there anything I will need to know about my existing 2.2 projects? Are there any horror stories doing an upgrade this drastic, or will it be smooth?

    computer help

Thanks man. Everyone should be free to express themselves and not be rude about it. Personally, I find that when there are different opinions on topics, there is usually a reason. Discussing those reasons lead to knowledge on both sides of the issue.

So, who can give negative reputation? Any user or old timers that don't agree with freedom of opinion?

    Negative Reputation

In looking at my 'User CP' menu item, I see that I have a negative 2000+ reputation. Question 1: What is it? Question 2: Can any user give another user negative reputation?

    computer help

To the guy that said I was full of crap I saw in my user CP that someone said I was full of crap for giving the answer that I did. First off, if you're going to say that, why not post it in public? Hey, go buy a Sony Vaio with Vista on it and try to load XP on it and tell me how far you get...

    computer help

No matter what you do, it is risky because the fact that Vista is installed means the hardware manufacturer has an agreement with Microsoft in respect to the operating system. I have encountered cases where you cannot install XP and get some of the hardware to work properly because the...

    Multiple Aardvark Q10 Units

Hello, Hopefully someone has used this configuration and can provide some answers for some questions. I currently have a single Q10 unit and have found it more than adequate for my purposes. I was considering adding a second unit to record more simultaneous inputs. In particular, big drum kits...

    Triggering recorded acoustic drums

I'm currently using Sonar to record audio tracks. I know it's possible to run the track out to an external unit to trigger drums back in and record the output to a new track. Is there a way to accomplish this all digitally through some type of plug in or a program that will work on a wave file...

    Best way to mix drums

Drum Mixing I can only offer general guidelines because there are no set rules. Kick and snare pan to center. Left and right overheads hard pan left and right. Hihat center. You might try spreading toms and cymbals (since you're micing them seperate) from left to right based on the position in...

    Public Mix Contest #2!!

Can I try? This is a cool idea. Can I give this a shot? Once mixed where should I send the stereo file? Is it ok to master it too?

CD Mastering: One seamless WAV file or several WAV files?

Mastering I think the whole issue is a mastering question and not a mixing question. That being said, what purpose does 'normalization' serve in a mastering environment, if it can only degrade the quality of the recording? Should it be avoided? What is it's purpose? Digitally would modifying...

CD Mastering: One seamless WAV file or several WAV files?

According to Bob Katz Here's a passage from 'Mastering Audio' by Bob Katz. I would assume he's fairly well respected in the mastering audio business. 'The engineer selects all segments (songs), and the computer grinds away, searching for the highest peak on the album. Then the computer adjusts...

CD Mastering: One seamless WAV file or several WAV files?

That's a simplified version. Most engineers last step is to normalize on completion of the final mix before mastering. What I'm saying is that each track of the recording should have the same 'volume' when played back. If you want to call that 'cookie cutter' fine.

    S/PDIF Question

Do they make a S/PDIF to normal XLR microphone converter for under $100? The reason I ask is that I have 8 XLR inputs and 2 S/PDIF and would like to get a total of 10 to use in particular for drum recording.
