This might be jitter wich seems a Problem with classical MIDI gear. MIDI 2000 - a enhanced MIDI protocol for higher transmission rates

I placed lite Story foam on to the ceilling to achieve dissusion of the higher freqeuncies and send them to the rear.

Of course a completely filled space has more effect, but the inner material is less effective. I placed them even further away from the wall and have place behind for storage.

Sounds strange. i allready had a similar effect in running two masterkey boards in series. One of em was a repeater of the the first one and a kind of passthough delay was added because of buffering. Somehow the softly reproduced (mixed) notes overlayed with the original. Did you try a MIDI...

There are some Editors there which can save pure data from a read MIDI, removing all controllers which perform bank change and other unwanted things.

did you consider to place the monitors into the small area aside? Id say the room should be used in a more symmetrical way

Would you recommend REAPER for professional productions in terms of easy to use and worth the money?

In the german recording forum, the webmaster seems to worl on that - he offers a PQ-sheet script to go with reaper as far as I understood. It is free.

Steinberg has such a 3D Souround Sound Panner. Maybe this is the right for you?
