Faint Aroma Pygmy Beat Extended meets Supercreep

I think it sounds pretty good but I can definitely do better. Ray, when I get back from vacation I will take another stab. Acoustic drums will kick it up a notch. Ray, you are a great lyricist and I really like your work. I made some changes just to make it easier for me to set up a good...

    Follow Me Ape Teeth

    I. Love. This. Fucking. Song. Loaded in iTunes. I am traveling Europe now and this song is my traveling companion for some reason but it just feels right, right now and right here. I hope you don't change a fucking thing because the idiosyncrasies make it so much sweeter. This is fantastic...

Last one for this record - Better than You

Thanks for the listen, I appreciate it. The vocal is going through an AC30 head sim, fairly cranked, and is supposed to sound abrasive. I can play around with it some more, but it is doing more or less what I wanted it to do. I don't think it sounds unpleasant.

Yes. I will make sure anybody here who wants a copy gets one.

    Mix I'm working on.

Sounds good, a pretty cool little slack-key figure you're playing there. I am listening to the original posting because your link immediately above isn't working. The drums sound fake, and being a little too loud probably doesn't help that. Without a vocal melody it's hard to tell where...

    One breath Away.

I don't have any mixing advice here. The background vocals are really in perfect balance and really add weight to the song. The add-on guitars in the second verse really do a lot of work. I don't hear a lot of problems. Interesting Tom Petty/Kinks thing going on. I like it very much.

    Shipbuilding

Say, this is one of my very favorite EC songs. I think you did a great job. Perhaps the vibrato on the guitar is a little fast. I like the drums, and your buddy does a pretty good EC. Nice work. ---------- Update ---------- Also, tape delays are always win.

Last one for this record - Better than You

Yeah, about a year of my life per album. :( We cut it down to fit on a disc, dropping four songs and a whole mess of foley. It's at 1:18:something now.

23 tracks that except for one are written to flow into the next. "Mastering" this has been six and a half bitches and a stick in the eye.

Okay. Here's one more for the pile. The entire master will have a notch between 400-500hz to ameliorate the boxiness. Any other mixing suggestions are welcome and encouraged. This is a song about schadenfreude and a man spurned. It's called Better than You.

    Hysterical Zombie

Boxy... Okay. I guess I am using room mics all wrong. It's a 450 square foot room with 13' ceilings, so the drums shouldn't really sound boxy. Midrange buildup, perhaps? Maybe something an EQ notch might address between 400-500k?

    2 songs. Level check.

I get that a lot too. Sometimes I just dont want the vocal way out front. :shrugs:

Thanks, Ray. Real horns are real. James played trumpet, trombone, mellophone, alto saxaphone, flute and clarinet on this record.

This is the beginning of "side two", and like Explorer it goes pretty far afield. Let me know what you think.
