I like the snare sound, but it sounds like it pulls to the left a little. The bass drum is kind of wooly, I'd have to hear it with a mix but i think it would get buried under distorted guitars. I like the floor tom.

If you have logic, you could use something like the enveloper which has controls for attack and sustain.

I can't really decide on just one so I'll say my two favorite cymbals are my 15" K Dark Thin crash, and my 20" K Custom Ride. The bell on the K Custom Ride is so beautiful. I like to stick to the smaller crashes cause they have that nice splashy sound.

I think your voice sounds good, and the song is good too. You have a little bit of the promise ring's singers' voice, but a little less whiney. I think I would have to agree with everyone else you just need some more confidence in your voice.

I personally prefer to hear drums from audience perspective, but I've definately heard it done either way.

I like the Remo Falam patches which are made of kevlar the best. They give a little extra click when used with plastic beaters, which is a nice balance between body and click. Try out the Aquarian ones if you dont want a lot of extra click as I think they are softer and feel more like vinyl...

The 603 as a snare mic sounds great on the snare, for a very true bright sound, although a little thin. I've combined it with a beyer M420 with great results as the M420 lacks some hi end that the 603 picks up on. I would imagine hihat bleed could be an issue as I've only used it to sample...

Thanks for all the comments. The drums were recorded with two mxl603s as a spaced pair (they were pretty low too), a beyer m420 on the snare about two inches up just above the rim, and an audix d6 in the bass drum. Drum sizes are: 20x20, 6x14 vented snare.

Thanks for the comments. I remixed it, having raised the vocals and fixed some phasing problems with the drums. Its the same file, just updated.

Wow, that's crazy because I just heard that song on the radio like a week ago and thought the same thing. That snare is absolutley amazing sounding. Unfortunatley, I have no idea what snare it is, so I cant help.

Hey Fenix, very nice looking kit! One thing I was wondering, is the rack tom the red glass glitter from drummaker.com? It looks almost like its a burgandy color. It might be my monitor, but I was curious because I wanted to use it on my kit, but I want almost a candy apple red.
