    Guitar Trouble

Okay, so I'm kinda new to recording, and I'm kinda confused with the guitar. I record mainly metal/hardcore guitar and as you may know, on 99% of all well recorded metal CD's the guitar has a huge almost monstrous sound to it. In order to get this sound, is it all about the amp/cab, the mic...

    Mixers?

I already have a Presonus Firepod, I'd just be more comfortabe using an analog mixer rather than a computer software mixer.

    Mixers?

I'm quite new to recording, so I'm still learning how everything connects together (no pun intended). Is there a way to connect an analog mixer to a computer and connect it with your computer software? (not as one track but seperate tracks?) Thanks! -Steve PS: I know there are digital...

    Drum Recording

okay, I' m very confused, and it might be my fault haha, but lemme clarify everything: I use Logic 8 Software I mic my overheads with 2 Audix F15's. I record them on Logic as ONE stereo track, meaning one of the mics is panned all the way to the left, and the other mic is panned all the way...

I did mic the overheads in stereo, and doing toms in stereo would sounds pretty good too. what's a good way that I could go about making my kick less boxy? Thanks everyone for your feedback! -Steve

    plug-in amp

obviously the final decision is up to you, but personally I hate using software instruments. None of today's software can compare with the true tone and fullness of miking a tube amp. But it is very convenient if you're on a low budget/not THAT interested in recording

    how much????

If you're a beginning I'd start around $10 per song, maybe $15-20. Once you feel that your quality is starting to compete with the "bigger" studios around you, then up your prices to $10-20 an hour.

I feel so stupid. but.... Normally I've been just plugging my drum mics straight into a firepod and into my computer. Many people have just said "wow...that sounds pretty good for just using a firepod as a preamp." and other stuff of that nature. I feel very stupid asking this because it's...
