The Girls and I Need Some Feedback

http://soundcloud.com/jessethom/snow-into-fire-unmastered1 The mastering will pull it together. They'll get all the tracks? It's already pretty smooth.

One of my best songs What do you think of it?

Very cool. That's a neat hosting tool, as well. Know what ya mean about the bass drums. Kinda frantic and out of the mix. Sounds like some kid swinging his Keds against a box under the kitchen table, while your song is playing on a tabletop radio. Shorten the attack of the "brass". Too much...

Need Critique on my amatuer recording & mix

Give us a compressed version. No one wants to wait for 6.3 megs to download. Drop the reverb. Try listening to the song dry. If you are not already doing it, record dry only. Sax solo conflicts with "Go Jim Dandy, Go" vocal. Rearrange. Bring in solo between syllables, then let-er rip. You...

    Crits please....Garage recordings....

I listened to Stubborn Slumber. I'd shorten it, bring the point of the song forward a bit more to the beginning. Then put all the music onto one stereo track [you'll want decent studio monitors]. Then, thicken up the vocals through more careful recording and EQ. Very promising. Hard to...

Does anybody study Audence Retention data of their youtube uploads?

I posted a silly song on youtube, and linked it on a couple forums. youtube posts lots of statistics for the user to study. My favorite if Audence Retention. 40% of listeners drop out @ 30 seconds [intro, V1, V2] 20% drop out gradually over the next 20 seconds [chorus, V3] 100% retention during...

Tascam Porta One - Motor is always running.

Mine would act like it was not done rewinding. The lever that checks tape tension was gummed up. [If I am remembering my decks properly. I've have many].

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Two months in with the DP-24, and my first "rejection email" . . . from a British radio station. They were, however, exceedingly polite about it!

Tascam Porta One - Motor is always running.

Yes, it should stop running. Does it act like it is still rewinding?

    What's your Tascam product?

I've had several since the late '70s. Right now, the DP-24. Well worth the price.

    Deleting tracks on 2488

I just discovered the "delete unused" function on my DP-24. Wow, what a difference in the memory. No wonder the 90 second song was up to 900mb. After the delete, the same song was down to 70mb.

    How often do you multitract?

My DP-24 is still kina new to me, but I've fallen into a rhythm. At first, I was laying down every thing I knew. Then I found it more productive to concentrate on geting one song perfect, before moving on. Now, I stick to one song, and if I only get a little done, but it is right, I take a...

    DP-24 burns masters at a low level . . . ???

I'm not sure what I did, but I'm getting a decent MASTER level now. After MIXDOWN, I NORMALIZED and then went right into MASTER, and everything was perfect.

    DP-24 burns masters at a low level . . . ???

When you NORMALIZE, and go back to the previous screen, is there any note that normalization has occured? On my screen, the three effects will be in the green, while the fourth, the NORMALIZATION, screen tab, remains dark. I put another two hours into it yesterday. MIXDOWN has the stereo...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

$571 delivered from B & H Photo. Three days now. Everything is fine except: The discs will not play on my 12-year old car CD player, but I have checked them on a Sony "boombox". PROBLEM: Although the mix-down signal is PLENTY hot, and Master signal is not. Have to crank up the Sony to 9- or...

    DP-24 burns masters at a low level . . . ???

Like many here, judging from what I've read, I've been bouncing tracks since I was a kid. Had a few 4-tracks over the years, and have done a fair amount of studio work, Got the DP-24 two days ago, have recorded a half dozen sngs, and burned two discs. My issue is not the MIXDOWN volume. That's...
