Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows where I can download a simple plugin to convert a stereo feed to mono. I often need to check a mix in mono and Cubase has no easy way of doing this!
Thanks,
Jon
I think that

looks like the way to go... problem is, minimum order looks like 2500!
Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
Punkin, I've tied tying knots in the cables but then the track is all muffled because the sound can't get through the knots properly, kinda like when you've got a kink in a hose. Am I making the knot too tight?
:)
Hmm, I have a whole bunch of good cables I've made up, and put sorta "cable flags" on them, so I could identify them between one another. I've since found that these really get in the way more than anything, and wish I had just put different colours of a bit of heatshrink tubing on each end...
Hi all, have just bought 3 Shure 545 unidyne III via ebay... just not sure what model they are (545s, 545d etc), and what connector they will have on them (XLR or 4pin?)... also if anyone can tell me what era they may have come from, would be much appreciated. Pic is below..
thanks!
Hi all,
I just bought a Beyer MC713 over eBay (that is, a CV710n body and a cardioid CK703 capsule).
I know nothing about this mic and have no experience with it, so if anyone else does, yell out! Also, I have no idea on the price either, can't seem to find much info on the mic.
Thanks all,
Jon
I'm using a JLM TMP-8 8 channel pre, and an aphex 107 dual-channel. The TMP-8 is absolutely fantastic... the 107 is okay for some non-critical tracks - so I've got pres covered quite well also.
I've made my own cables using about 200m of canare star-quad LE46S, i think the model no. is... and...
Oh sorry, I thought I read a while back that you had..
Give it a listen if you get the chance one day - I know you'd probably be trying to keep the number of mics to a minimum, but you might be surprised :)
Thanks,
Jon
Hey Harvey,
Just curious on your views (ear-views?) of the Rode K2 - I remember reading a quick run-down you did on it, but it was only an initial-impression type of write-up.
I bought one a while back and personally think very highly of it..
Thanks!

Hmmm, not sure how keen I would be on a cheapo ribbon mic... can't imagine it having the same smooth highs as a pricier one. Not that I'm "price-ist"..
Anyone have any experience with cheaper or even mid-priced ribbon mics?
Yup, try being further away from the amp/mic, turning the amp up, or even playing the guitar in a different room from the amp.
Maybe a coupla gobos between the mic/amp and guitar?
Thanks richie,
The ADK ST is actually a multipattern FET, turns out to be quite an all-purpose mic on a lot of sources.
I know a lot of people will hate me for this, but i'm not a massive fan of the c414 on most sources... as for the other sugggestions, thanks! keep 'em coming
Hi all,
Basically I'm about to splash out on another mic... just wondering about any suggestions! I'll list the mics I've got first. Also, I know this question seems stupid, but how does my mic locker hold up? Good/Crap?
5 x Shure SM57
1 x Shure Beta52
1 x Rode K2
1 x ADK ST Pro
2 x Rode NT5

Read this link about 2/3 of the way down, will explain the sort of technique used to get Nickelback's sound on The Long Road - lots of layering...

Hi,
I've got myself an OzAudio Q-Mix HM-6 headphone amp from the US, and it wants 120v. I'm in Australia so running on 240v.
I know I could just buy a step-down transformer but I would prefer to replace the CT transformer inside the unit.. my only problem is I don't know the output voltage of...
Hi all,
I've just bought an OzAudio HM-6 QMix off eBay, and it takes 120v input... I'll need a stepdown power supply, but not sure whether this one would suit my needs...

Before I bought my last set of monitors, I listened to both the Rubicon 6A and Wharfedale Pro 8.2a.. on personal opinion I chose the Wharfedales.
Rubicons sound to me to have a better (read, smoother, less harsh) top end than Wharfs, but I found the bottom a little muddy and...
Har har chessrock.. okay I didn't know it was just a straight swap or whether it needed decoupling etc
And what difference does the new opamp provide?
Thanks!
