Cubase FW-1884 and Cubase LE issues

So I have my DAW stuff all set up and it's interfacing properly. When I add tracks in Cubase they all control the sliders they corresponde with on the Tascam, but when I try to assign the tracks to different inputs (1-8) on the mixer, it only gives me the option of selecting between 1 and 2...

    Very nub question

How do I export my projects in mp3 format (or anything that can be put on a cd) from Cubase LE?

48.000? 41.8890? whatever the hell it is

He's asking if he were the worlds greatest studio engineer and engineered an otherwise flawless work, would having a higher sampling rate effect the soundquality of the project. Yes it does. Higher resolution audio has greater detail.

    unpleasant high end in vocals

    A. Do you have a recording of yourself or someone singing at these frequencies? If so, I request that you email it to me. B. Or find research based information that proves your statements.

Couldn't you use a gate so that when the screaming came in the mic that wasfurther away, or had greater SPL handling abilities kicked in?

    HELP! Dry mouth

Avoid drinks with milk in them, though. Milk increases mucous production and can make a singer sound like they have a cold.

Firewire for laptop needs, budget around 1000 $ but could go up !

USB is also an option. It's more liekly the computer you're using will have a USB input than a firewire at the moment. If you only need 2 channels you don't need to spend 1,000. Take a look at this little Tascam. It's very portable as well. It costs $199. http://tascam.com/Products/US-122.html

    unpleasant high end in vocals

Pitch matching and frequency matching are two very different things. Here are some things to read: http://www.kodachrome.org/salt/sunderst.htm http://www.eaw.com/technology/proprietary/va.html http://www.cs.cf.ac.uk/Dave/Multimedia/node271.html I have extracted relevant information incase...

I has to be my hard drive...right??

Back in the day I had a crappy gateway comp using an integrated sound chip. The sound would hiccup and manfunction from time to time, but never really seemed to go away completely. I replaced that with a soundblaster live soundcard, problem solved.

    unpleasant high end in vocals

The low end of the human vocal range is between 500 and 1000 hz. The upper end is around 3000 hz. I'd guess you're looking at 2500ish-2800.

The singer would bug me after awhile. I agree on the drums.

    Anyone have experience recording saxophones?

Before you start in with your "kiddies" speak and down talk in general, go back and take a gander at what's been said over and over again throughout this thread. No one is disputing the fact that the 421 is inferior to a royer, coles, neuman, microtech-gefell, etc. They have, however, said...

    Anyone have experience recording saxophones?

Thanks for the suggestions Juggernaut. I like the looks of the AT4040 and KSM27. The RE20 looks nice, but it's a bit spendy for me for now. Next summer when I begin the serious construction on my home studio I'll start looking more seriously at spending serious money on microphones. Between the...

    Anyone have experience recording saxophones?

I could maybe stretch the budget up to $500, but if possible I don't really want to spend more than 400. I'm just getting started out, and at the moment all I have is a pair of MXL 603's and a $40 Shure dynamic mic, so I'd imagine anything will be a step up from me. I also am expecting to...

    Anyone have experience recording saxophones?

How coincidental. So I'm sitting on the couch watching "I Love The 80's" on VH1, and what do ya know, they featured a music video where they were recording on to a 421. Is the 421 also decent on recording vocals? I have a friend and the two of us are thinking a bit about cutting a vocal/tenor...

    Anyone have experience recording saxophones?

Abou how much do these MXL V77 mics cost new? And the Neuman? Neither of them seem to be availible from Musicians Friend or WWBW. I imagine the Neuman is quite a bit more expensive, but how do they compare quality wise? My goal here is to be able to get a recording that when people here it on a...

    Anyone have experience recording saxophones?

Forgive me for being a complete and 100% nublet when it comes to microphones, but with the reading I've done here in the last few weeks I would have been of the opinion that a dynamic mic was less than ideal for studio applications, and that it would be beter to use either a more spendy...
