the low end on the kick drum is muddying up the mix. The snare is DYING for some reverb... the depth on the flange is too deep and its making the guitar sound out of tune during the clean part. Record another guitar take to match the existing one and pan them hard left and right... the mix will...
Maybe you guys are thinking of the Focusrite Control 24. its got 16 Focusrite platinum series builit into the contol surface... personally I think the patinum series pres kinda suck, but hey... they really don't have much headroom
Mesas, hands down, are the easiest to sound great on tape. I'd be willing to bet the deftones used it on their recordings... its very hard to get soild state amps to sound good... that balance between crunch and tonal definition doesnt come easy.
I would say the dmp3 is better... If you want your vocals to sound good, ditch the 57 and get yourself a cheap studioprojects B1.The 57 would be good for live vocals, but for recording? no way!
I've never had cubase crash on me... I've had one Protools project be mysteriously corrupted and unopenable when PT LE crashed. People will go on about how stable PT is, but they're talking about TDM and HD setups, which doesnt tax the computer's resources much. I would say, protools LE is just...
I'm trying to use the waves direct X plugins with Cubase SX2... whenever I put it in an insert, I get latency and my tracks dont sync up correctly... is there a way I can fix this?

the VST to RTAS adapter sucks ass. It enjoys consuming processing power. Its true that you can use the 001 or 002 with practically any program on your computer. However, you're limited to 2 outputs. Its not like you could run Cubase and use all the analog ins on the 002 to track drums...
get the TLM103... Its a great all around mic. It can used, and sounds great on more than just vocals. We have 2 of these at school and they always rock in pretty much whatever situation you put them in. If you were only gonna have one mic, this would be a good one to have.
Actually, in protools you don't have to do this. You can do multiple takes on one track with the use of multiple playlists. It conserves voices and processing power. Also, I've heard many of you saying protools sounds like ass... use the DITHERING stereo summing bus. Drag it into your plugins...
