No personal experience, but I've read seller feedback on some of those SM57's going for way too cheap from Chinese sellers that said they're fakes.

thanks, blind sublime! I will definitely try cutting the lows out on the guitars, that sounds like a cool idea for sure. So is it kinda standard to EQ each track individually then? We're only EQing the vox, kick, snare and drum overhead individually right now.

erm, this thread is almost a year old and was with a band that never came to be. Yuck, I still had those B8s in there too! but more importantly, because I still used essentially the same process in the latest recording I did, why wouldn't I want bass and drums first?
