    Wound Third

Yes. I find it helps my playing to have pretty much the same string guage on all my guitars.

    Gretsch Streamliner

Less string noise, smoother playing, longer lasting. Not exactly a jazz sound, but less bite than traditional round wounds. A lot of the rockabilly guys over at The Gretsch Pages swear by them. I eventally went back to round wounds on my Anni, but I'll probably switch back at some point. It...

    Gretsch Streamliner

Those are nice too. I had some Pyramid flatwounds on my Gretsch Anniversary for awhile. Great for rockabilly.

    Wound Third

It's the byproduct of years of playing strictly acoustic guitar. I have no touch.

    Gibson ES-137 Custom. Opinions?

Plays nice, but it's one heavy sumbich. I wouldn't want to sling one for 3 hours.

    Wound Third

All my guitars have 12-52's with a wound G, except my Fender Jag which has Flatwound 13's. I have big hands and play pretty hard. The wound G works better for me.

    Gretsch Streamliner

Get crazy and put some flatwounds on it. You won't regret it.

    ebay, china Guitars?

I'm sure these are the same as that masonite Epi Les Paul that was all over the internet awhile back.

    Why Bands Dont Make it?

Not at all. I'm saying that in any given crowd there are 2% interested in what my setup is, and 98% who just came to hear our music. There's a tendency in music (both performance and recording) to focus on the gear, and not what you do with it. Does it matter in the long run if I play an...

    Epi Dot or Ibanez Artcore?

I just bought an Epi Dot Studio. I have to say, it plays like a much more expensive guitar now that it's been setup. I may not even swap the pickups. I think they may still have a few left over at MF for $219. It's hard to go wrong at that price...

    Why Bands Dont Make it?

Honestly, I think that's mostly BS. I've been gigging a lot of years, and in my personal experience maybe 2% of the crowd is interested in what instruments you play. The rest of them are there to be entertained. I agree to a point that you need gear that sounds good, is stable and is...

    Why Bands Dont Make it?

I'm curious as to why this made your list, let alone be the 5th reason bands don't make it. Am I to infer that they only sell crappy gear at GC?

Shopping around for an older acoustic...

I'd look for a used Martin 15 series. All solid wood (mahogany), great sound and should be available for right around what you have to spend. There are several D-15's up on e-bay right now. The OOO and OO sizes are nice too.

    building a strat...help!!

I'd check out USA Custom Guitar (http://www.usacustomguitars.com), they have a very good reputation on the Telecaster discussion page. They get high marks for their bodies and necks. Good prices too. The virtual guitar builder is pretty cool too.

    My birthday present to me

Pretty good out of the box. It needs to be setup with 12's, but it definitely feels nicer than it cost. Plugged in sounds a bit thin, but useable.
