Best 2+ Input Mic Pre for $200?

Yes, I should have mentioned that I was speaking strictly of the Behringer pres in their mixers. It's my understanding that all of the Behringer rackmount mic pres are an entirely different animal, and are better than the mixer pres (I could be mistaken, though). I haven't heard it, but isn't...

Best 2+ Input Mic Pre for $200?

I will be happy to badmouth the Behringer pres. And, let me just say that I don't have the pickiest ear in the world, and I'm pretty forgiving - I listen to those preamp comparison test cds and sometimes end up being equally happy with $300 preamps as I am with $2500 preamps. Those Behringers...

    Rack kit for Presonus Gear

Musician's Friend has them - http://www.musiciansfriend.com - just do a search for "presonus" and look for the BMRA rack adapter. $24.99. Definitely get this instead of a standard universal rack adapter - the blue max & tube are slightly smaller than normal and just don't quite fit correctly in...

Upgrade for ROLLS RP220 Mic pre?

Do a search on this board for "RP220" - I think you're looking for the "dark horse" thread.

    MXL V63.......any good?

Yeah, let me retract my entire statement - I had no idea you could get the V67 that cheap. Find the extra ten bucks and get the V67, skip the V63. V67 is a great mic that I recommend without hesitation. I like it as much, or better, than anything else under $500.

    MXL V63.......any good?

I've got both a V67 and a pair of V63's - they were cheap, so I bought a pair of them for extra room mics, remote recording, or whatever... The downside is that they have a really pronounced high end "coloration" and can get a little spitty on vocals (a lot like an AKG C3000) - and they sound...

    Was it a good deal

I would've bought the Rolls for that price, that's a really good deal. There's a thread on here somewhere about upgrading the rp220, apparently with good success.

    EV RE-20 help needed ASAP!

Please tell us, just to torture us, just exactly how killer the killer deal was. Under $200?

best (dynamic) recording mic under 125$

I'm the only guy who will say beta 57? Well, they're a couple bucks over $125, but i'm sure you can get them cheaper on ebay...

    Presonus Bluemax Compressor?

I was wrong on the Bluemax price, though, more like $159. Which is still a great price!

    HHB Radius 10?

Ditto on the drum miking - the thing is particularly SWEET for drums. I also have the Radius 50, same pre in a single channel with tube compressor - I love the thing. I'm not fooling myself that it's REAL high-end tube gear, it truly isn't - but it definitely sounds better than what I've had it...

    Presonus Bluemax Compressor?

Everybody's going to jump on here and tell you to buy the RNC, instead - and they're right, to a great degree, it's a better sounding compressor. However, if you're new to compression and are looking for something easy to use - then the Bluemax is DEFINITELY the way to go. The presets are very...

    Buy now or wait !!!!!!

I'm inclined to say "go for it." There IS a difference between the gear, but... Considering what I started off recording with, which was a crummy radio shack mic and a cassette four track - the B1 & audio buddy combo would've been the greatest thing in the world, just a few years ago! They're...

    A Bit of V67 Praise

Yeah, personally, I have nothing but good things to say about this mic. My little collection of cheap-priced LD condensors was a V67, pair of V63's, AKG3000C, that really cheap Nady 2001-ish thing, and a not-at-all-cheap Blue Baby Bottle. No contest; while the V67 didn't sound great on...

    Couldn't resist....

Yeah, I'm also in Chicago - are you saying that the GC on Halsted has (or had) 319's for $99? I don't really NEED one, but, hey, I'd check it out for $100. "Too many mics?" What? Huh? I don't know what these words mean.

any thoughts on these drum mics?

Yeah, Gidge is right on. That's the same setup I use, with the exception of the higher-priced ATM25 instead of the Pro 25. I went through all kinds of budget drum mic packages, CAD, etc., but, forget it, they're all basically junk (broad, sweeping statement, but I stand by it)... You can pick...

Best Bang for the Buck Hall of Fame

ART DI/O converter, $159 Behringer V-Amp (no, really) $129 MXL 603 Sans Amp Bass D.I. Vintage-ish DBX 118 compressor ($35 on ebay) I find myself reaching for one or all of these things during every session, and yet none of them was a real cash investment. Good stuff.

Any big differences between the MC012 and MXL603S?

Another thing to consider - according to Harvey (and my own ears, for that matter), the Marshall MXL1000 sounds identical to the 603. It's the same mic (or, well, close enough), in a handheld mic with a ball windscreen deal (take the ball ends off, or at least the foam insert, I'll guarantee you...

Any thoughts on the BLUE Baby bottle?

I have one (a baby bottle), and unfortunately I honestly don't love it. Yet. This mic definitely has a "sound," I wouldn't characterize it as a "neutral" mic (kinda like how the Joe Meek gear has it's own "sound"). The problem with this mic, for me, is that I'm sure it will sound great when...
