    The Internet's Best Recording Resources

A religious organization? Seriously though, I find youtube to be great resource, since they have demos and tutorials for pretty much everything, ever.

    MIDI n00b seeks advice

The model I've had my eye on is velocity-sensitive, but thanks for the quick reply. I got the answer I wanted right away; case closed.

    MIDI n00b seeks advice

I've been into home recording since Santa brought me my first tape deck, and got into computer-based audio recording in just the past few years. Lately though, I've been interested in virtual instruments but I have yet to purchase a midi controller. The Korg nanoKEY caught my eye because I can...

    Guitar amp poll

My Peavey stopped "tickin'" right around the time I moved from my previous address to my new one. The power supply cord is quite frayed, and since I bought the amp used, I don't even know how old it is. I hope I can get it fixed, as I wouldn't mind selling it. It was a darn good unit while it...

Judas Priest "Breaking The Law" cover !!!!!!

I like the guitar sound quite a bit, at least in my Sony earbuds. The vocals do indeed sit a bit high as others have said. And though Weird Al has never in fact released a cover of this song, since his name was mentioned in the comments I was reminded of his hard rock tune, "Young, Dumb & Ugly".

Seek & Destroy - Greg takes Metallica surfing

Even when Metallica was good, they were never this good. My mind has been blown.

    Overpriced thrift store junk!

I once paid $250 for a BC Rich Warlock bass at a good local music store. Years later I traded it straight across for another guitar. A couple years after that, I saw my old Warlock bass at the grungiest pawn shop in town, where they were asking several dollars more than what I had paid years...

    Where is your studio located?

My studio has recently moved. Still in a spare room in a basement, but now it's a bigger, better sounding room. I even have a closet now, so my guitar cases don't take up any space.

what did you start off on?

The first guitar I actually learned to play was a Vantage electric that I bought myself, but my first actual guitar was a Yamaha acoustic that my dad gave me when I was about 6 years old. After a couple years the low E tuning peg broke. At the time I didn't even know you could just go out and...

If you could add 1 thing

A futuristic force-field that blocks all sound from outside the studio. My place is on a major bus route, with the studio being the room closest to the street. In a few days I'm moving to another place, across the street from a school so I'll have to get used to the bell schedule.

For all you middle-aged slackers (born between 1967 and 1990)

My first proper portable stereo audio system, or "ghetto blaster", was a Xmas gift in '93. CD, cassette, AM/FM. A couple years later when I bought my first electric guitar, I plugged it into my Sony's mic jack. That was pretty awful. There was also a portable tape deck (another xmas gift)...

    Eye contact

I like the eye contact thing, both as a performer and as an audience member. Indeed, it can be powerful.

Can not using gold platted connectors damage a condenser mic?

Gold isn't as good of an electrical conductor anyway; The only reason it's used on such devices is because it doesn't oxidize nearly as fast.

How much ram do YOU recomend for recording?

Niiiiice. I have an old relic like that too; I found it in dumpster and adopted it. I just use it for cheesy old games that I grew up with.
