Looking to bring all my rear mic pre inputs to the front, as I'm tired of all those 3 foot cables tied to the front of my rack.
any others.
thanks
I believe the inserts on the mg series are post faders no matter what configuration you're in. I also believe the EQ is active, just not the fader. your individual channel trim/gain is your only volume control on the insert channels going directly out.
Remember, (I'm not sure how many...
I need to convert a SPDIF connector to an ADAT/Optical connection t. whats a good inexpensive box?
I need to leave my digi001 via SPDIF out and convert the link to ADAT/Optical into my RME ADI-8 Pro's D/A section, which is adat/optical in only (no spdif in on the RME)
thanks
definetly not the same. we had my 001 and an oo2 where we compared the overall sound (has to include A/D D/A since you cant bypass the converters for mic pre comparisons).
the 002 pre's were tighter and very much usable. my 001 pre's are harsher especially in the high end and very much like my...
if you want 8 DMP3's then this is the new Octane. the pre's are the same ones used in the DMP3's pre's (no mixer though) sells for around $500.00

Chess my friend, thank you. that was very well done. this one is saved for the archives. You've definetly cleared that up for me and for others I'm sure. we hear alot about these chips and all the products that share them.
makes sense now why my RNP and the Sytek stand out above the rest of the...
Chess,
you made mention of 3 Texas instruments chips in a previous thread. I'm a bit unclear about a few things. do the following pre's contain the Burr Brown chip or the Texas Instruments or both?..do you know what each of these use? I remember reading that they all contain something similar...
All great points!...
Booda, (IMO of course)
I like a real open controlled drum sound so I don't compress much. my overheads have the RNC in S. Nice mode for just a tinge of transparent limiting. (barely nothing) my snare gets even less. my kick, snare bottom, mono room, 3 toms, h hat, all are...
without a doubt I'd go with the RNC. I have 2 and in the super nice mode they are dead on. the VLA is a dual mono piece which is the only advantage (which doesnt go very far for me). the RNC is only stereo on the same source (no kick and snare for example)..sometimes the best way to look at it...
IMO of course!
but for me, I get such a full sound from my snare's top and overheads It gives me all the fullness and body I need. I dig a full natural, woody, sounding snare.. not choked at all.
the bottom mic gives me the extra rattle/sizzle tone defining the snare as the unique drum it is...
lets see, for bottom of snare!
sm57....will work just fine
mxl603..will work just fine
nt-1a....will work just fine
mc012...will work just fine
point being, its a snare bottom! I've used just about anything under there. once you cut the lows, all you're really left with is those nasty snares...
GT's maybe, ADK's? I'm not sure, but I believe rode is an all Australian mic..I could be wrong. I would just like to know who really makes mics for who!
