actually we did use treated 2x4s for the floor... and I went with a less drastic layout design so that when we sell the house it can pass as a rec room, a bedroom, a closet, etc.... Wish I had thought to build the speakers into the angled corners though, that woulda been a cool idea.

6 months since we moved into our new house, after some slow going getting the basement gutted, we have done waterproofing, framing, electrical, wired for XLR and headphones, soundboard, sheetrock, mud, tape, and even some paint... still to go: more paint, carpet, trim, soldering audio plates...

maybe its just me coming from pop punk and all... but i'd play it all downpicking.

Epi les pauls are good guitars, Epi SGs are good guitars, Epiphone makes some great guitars. Unfortunately they are priced fairly accordingly... you can get an epi les paul for 400-500 new but you can get a squier for $189 or $149. so there' no real comparison. Epiphone makes a decent $400...

anybody? I'm looking for tips from anyone who has mixed a lot of 'electronic' sounding stuff.

overall sounds pretty good. crashes at the ends of choruses (0:43) sound out of place, either too loud or needs kick with it... drums could sound a little tighter / punchier. ending is great!

great tune, very ben folds, i could use a touch more vocal in a few spots, just when it gets real quiet. I actually like that intro too. not sure what else you'd want to do with it. great track!

I'm trying to make this track 'fit' on a record with a lot of power pop / some punk / and some synth rock tracks, overall mostly a keyboard heavy power pop record. This is the only song without live drums, and not really a style that I'm used to mixing... so any comments would be greatly...

I've used sound forge for mastering, using wave hammer lightly to get the levels up a bit, then playing with the timeworks mastering EQ / Compressor to fatten it up. works pretty well. I reccomend saving all your settings on wave hammer or any plugins, and doing 4 or 5 different "masters" then...

thanks for the input, I'm going to try some more reverb on the drum room mics, and maybe on the backup vox, see if that widens it up a little, we're using this one as the lead off track for our new album, so its gotta be strong.

in series? does running them in series, mean running the line from the amp to one cab and then out of that cab into the other?

I have a blue Voodoo head that can run outputs at 8ohms or 16ohms I have a 2x12 cab that is 8 ohms. can I also run another cab? (let's say a 16 ohm 4x12, or an 8 ohm 4x12) wouldn't another 8ohm cab take the ohms to 4 and make something not work? and I have no idea what would happen if I had a...
