I agree with not doing the radio shack thaangg
But I would think about 57s, very multi purpose that you can use for other things like guitar or even sometimes vocals when theres no condensers around.
you can find 57s for about $75 .US
I have never seen Tape Op or SOS ( if any one has the direct web site, Myself and others here would greatly appreciate it.
as far as other mags iI have seen most and you get almost all ad's with maybe three to six pages of OK reading
Its a good work horse comp many studios have them or the big brother DBX166. just a straight up comp no real major coloring.
not the best but by far not the worst.
I have one.
To be honest I have not heard there lasted cd but I have there
last one. Is the new CD different from there last with the
guitar tones??
IF so let me know, other wise I will take a listen this weekend to
the other cd to try and get a feel for it.
BUT I will tell ya some of the newer bands like...
Give the guy a break he has a very good Question based on
sound not how you feel what is good quility music.
It will all depend on what you are recording to, Dig or analog.
this changes a lot in how you record the sound you are
looking for.
I am recording a band here in Mpls Mn called Autonomy
they use clean and distorted Bass and lots of distorted guitar
I still Pan the clean Bass in the center But I have been Panning
the distorted Back at about 3 to 4 oclock and the heavy guitar
at about 8 to 9 oclock, it has been sounding great...
Theres many things I could tell you but not knowing what your needs are ie Mics/Compressors/Tube Pre's etc Makes it a little
more complicated, My advice would be to look and review other articles written in this forum (Equipment and the Mic area and any other forum here that holds you intrest...
I personally love gatting the toms, the snare all depends on style
of the song like when there using ghost notes.
The main reason for gating is because if you got a good sounding room and good overhead mics and maybe a good room mic you
then can rely more on them for the breath and character of...
I have Had mine for about a year. It gets used as much as my
mixer and recording gear, I dont know how I would get along with out it.
I just wanted to hear what others thought about the Masterlink
and its uses!
I also record Digital, I find that recording heavy guitar can be the hardest sound to get for the guitar. I dont know if this is the sound your trying to go for but I do believe a 57 1 to 3 inches
aimed to the center but angled a little off center/ but its really a matter of the amp its self so...
I agree with Gidge, 6 to 12 is about where I usually put the singers in my studio, and it really does depend on the style of songer, its also good to sing with the mic just a little up from mouth level so that you use the right muscles and technech.
excuse the spelling.
another question in relation to yours is which ones are best suited for dig and or l Analog.
I also am in the Market and wondering which would be my best bet.
I use the DM24 mixer with a DA78 master recorder and two
DA38s as Slaves.
You are so right /Jazz Country /Blues/ then Last but not least
I feel a better singer is needed. I was in a band back in the 80s
that many record companys were interested in. we had a pretty
big following and the singer was the perfect front man (But)
on tape he was'nt good enough and after two...
