Why won't you just take some mixing lessons... Have you seen in a laywers or doctors forum people asking movies about laws and medicine? Mixing is a proffesion, and the ones who doesn't treat it like one, won't go far

What you need is a pre amp , if your sound card has one - great If not, you can either buy a different soundcard or an external pre amp I would invest in a cheap condenser , sm58 is a dynamic mic and doesn't fit vocals recording in the studio - except very specific cases

I totally diagree with a dynamic mic here, if if acoustics are super bad , unless there's a lot of nose around, get a condernser mic Try ADK microphone

If Sample Tank gets midi , then your drums are fine it has o be mapping , the only "job of the drums are sending the midi.

It's 2015 You can use Axe FX, POD, Guitar Rig, Amlitube, Bias, Revalver Each can get you great results if you know what you're doing. The biggest bands in the world does that , and the biggest producer and engineers. This is my personal opinion and I respect others opinion in that matter.
