It sounds like you are looking for a "punchy" tone with lots of mids. Your GK backline should be able to do that pretty well, you might want to try throwing a 16 channel graphic EQ in the mix, you can pick one up pretty cheap off of craigslist (unless you live in BFE). The more eq / tonal...

The DI box will act like an external sound card. It will show up as a separate input / output that you can select in your recording software.

You need to use a direct input from your bass to the pc, and use something like Cakewalk Sonar to sync up the video and mp3 and your bass track. You can then edit the levels after the fact and make it sound however you want.

the vocalist sounds like the dude from "crash test dummies" on the verse. mmmmmmm sounds good - few notes turn the vocals down and put some reverb on them (not a lot) more kick drum put some compression on the bass - someone give that drummer a new snare. Post some more stuff!
