    mastering prices

ive never used them before, so i cant comment on the quality for the mix/master. I am a tunecore user to distribute my songs on itunes/amazon/rhapsody/etc......and always noticed the ads for thier services... seems really cheap, though it might be good to investigate

Tape emulation in a digital DAW

were all cursed with the ever so 'too clean' sound when we record into our digital DAWs. Ive been doing some research on some tape emulation plugins (for Windows VST) that can help create the sound like you recorded on 2" analog tape........that nice warn, spanked, harmonicly rich sound. so far...

How many plugins on avg do you use per track in a mix?

I always have my SSL4000 channel strip plug in on every track i mix. I almost always use the EQ from it, and 80% of the time ill use the compressor from it. Anything aside form that.......any other additional plug-in is minimal to none. Maybe a plug-in such as Reverb/modulation/pitch correction...

Tracking guitars, the logical way for rock? (poll)

i used to record 4 individual tracks/takes and use a different mic and speaker for each take.....then pan 2 right (100% and 80%) and 2 left (100% and 80%) playing the the exact same riff.....layering them on each other but now i find its just too much. Kinda muddies up the sound. AND if you...

    'Steven Slate Drums' program

Not much in this forum about this program.... I must say, it kicks major ass! For most of use "home recording" junkies....we might not have access to a real drummer. This program could be the ticket to get some realistic drum sounds at home. Heres a quick sample of me playing some basic clean...

Tracking guitars, the logical way for rock? (poll)

these are all great answers........ for the most part, i always dual mic'ed my amp (both up close) and sent both signals into my DAW as a mono source (together). And then tracked 4 times, panning 2 left and 2 right. yes, it sounded HUGE.....but it always had almost "too much thickensss" and i...

Tracking guitars, the logical way for rock? (poll)

ok kids..... I am wondering how most of you guys track your rhythm guitars when recording. Its pretty obvious the most commonly method is tracking 2 separate tracks, and panning them hard left/right. BUt how often do you guys track an additional (also identical) set of guitars and also pan...

advice on preamp an set up

im wondering it it would be an advantage if i get a decent sounding preamp. I currently use an old Sontracs TOPAZ mix console, and use the channels preamp......and feed that into a Presonus Firebox to run into my computer. do you think i would hear a major difference if got a decent external...

    I need your ears....

I used Samplitude 10 for both recording/mixing and mastering.....pretty much all of it. I figured it would be easier to use one single program to do it all. That way, everything (panning laws, functionality, etc) is consistant for both tasks. Recorded at 24/96k my main plugs for mixing is the...

    I need your ears....

your right Joey some songs (the heavy hitters) had the drums compressed to hell and back. Some of the softer songs really got some nice drum action that seems to hit hard and stay open..... thanks man, i value your feedback.....you rock!

    I need your ears....

yeah, it was a drum software for sure. But not bad for for not being real drums though.....close enough anyways. the first 2 tracks are hard hitting rockers.... a more softer melodies are tracks 3 ( remember when) and 6 (duet) the overall winning track (everyones fav so far) is track 4 (into...

    With Marcadiablo's help....

i dont know if it needs pumping compression, or just good ol' fashioned re-EQing. The kick and snare just needs to sound bigger/fuller....

New song - Push - something different!

the "T-Pain" effect your doing needs to be more prominent and stronger in the main vocal. Is set so subtle right now, that is sounds like mixing mistakes rather than an effect. but kewl......it has potential to be a strong song...
