Secret Pro Mixing and Recording Formula Finally Exposed!

As silly as your post sounds, and people may think you're an asshole for it, it really does help alot. Great for writer's block. It's like "OK, I'm relieved. Got what I want. Now time to write some tunes." Being high works 100 times better though.

What is a resonant frequency, and how do you locate it.

Resonant frequencies are usually caused by too much mids. Listen to each instrument individually and if it doesn't sound natural, then that'll more than likely cause a problem.

    Stop calling yourself a "PRODUCER".

I wouldn't totally agree with what you said. Those people you named are just damn good producers, because I do produce. May not be as good as the professionals, but it's still producing. I consider myself more of a composor than a producer. I'm sure there's a science to getting the sound you...

    Guitar solo placement

In the following track, I have a guitar solo placed in the bridge and at the end of song. I was wondering where it sounded better at, and if the eq sounds good. My ears are fatigued from listening to it so much. Thanks! http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/10/14/1511016/gs2.mp3

    Getting a better production

It's not a plugin. Just cut out the part where he says eye and saved it as an audio file and manipulated it to make it act the way i wanted it to like this http://i36.tinypic.com/2qd29ur.jpg There are slicers out there that can do that, but the way I did it was probably way easier.

Need an opinion for a club song

The first clip is a slowed down version, and the 2nd is the original of a song me and my friend recently produced. I'm pleased with the mixing, but was messing around with and thought it might sound better slowed down. It's been played at the most popular nightclub down here. Just thought a...

Setting the levels on the mixing board properly

I actually just record vocals with it, but it seems to work nice now. Thanks! Did a little testing. Volume is much easier to tweak now. Virtually no background noise.

Looking to buy a midi keyboard...

If you want a professional look, then definately go for one of those, but you know some of those keyboards at walmart they have on display sometimes? Alot of them support midi. I used to take piano lessons when I was in elementary school, and dad bought me a casio. You know.. the ones with those...

Setting the levels on the mixing board properly

Any advice on this? I'm using a Phonic mu1202. I have the gain set to 75% and the main volume all the way down to -25. It seems when I have the gain set high and the main volume low, there is no background noise, vice versa, the background noise is very noticable. Too noticable. Should this be...

    Where did I go wrong?

oh and also, my singer always loves my beats, and i'd always rather discard them but only on very few occassions do i wanna keep the beat. it'll surprise you what vocals can do to a track. the beat and melody sets the mood. how the singer arranges determines whether or not the song is gonna be...

    Where did I go wrong?

Rap songs are good simple since that's what people like, but if you wanna give it a fuller sound, then fill the frequency spectrum. Sounds like it's missing some mids. Maybe a very subtle bright chorded brass. Unless that's not the sound you're going for. It's all about what you're going for.

After I record my acoustic and vocals into Adobe Audition, what processing do I need?

Here's how to give your guitar a stereo sound. You can either record the same guitar part twice, which in my opinion sounds better if you're not too bad off timing, or just taking the same recording. Split the tracks. Pan one hard left and the other hard right. Slighty nudge the one panned hard...

    Finished a new track

Thanks! I used a samson c01 condenser plugged into a small preamp (phonic mu1202) and that going straight into my microphone jack on my computer. I recorded all the vocals in audacity and compressed it before i saved it and pitch corrected it. I'm using FL Studio, and I mainly had to raise the...
