    Question for Tracktion users

I've been playing around with the demo a lot lately and I've pretty much decided that I'm going to buy it. I was playing around with some new VST's (specifically the Kjaerhaus Classic series EQ, Reverb and Compression) on a snare track, and I noticed that when I jump from plug in to plug in, I...

    drum machine for recording...

For the price, you will not find a more realistic drum solution than the one that metalhead28 and ermghoti mentioned - specifcally, using DFHS with a MIDI sequencer. I know you have Cakewalk from answering the very similar question you asked two weeks ago. Well, Cakewalk can be used as the...

    Re-Amping options

Anyone find out if this works? I was looking on the Reamp page, and they claim this isn't possible: http://www.reamp.com/faq/#4739 I'd like to try this, but I don't currently have the gear to do it. I don't any DI's, the closest thing I have is an ART Tube MP. What would be the most cost...

    re-amping

This is a really interesting idea - I had never thought of trying it this way, but it makes perfect sense. What can I use to go between the guitar and the sound card? Would I just use a standard DI box, or could I use a tube mic preamp? I don't have any DI Boxes, but I've got to tube mic...

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

You know what? I like these samples better than my samples disc. The samples on my disc aren't bad at all, but there's NOWHERE near as many velocity variations. These also have a very "natural" sound to them, and I think they might blend a bit more seamlessly in my recordings than the samples...

    ribbon mics on guitars

I was more curious than anything else if it was OK to close mic a loud low-watt combo, as I've never used a ribbon mic.

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

This looks pretty cool. So what is it, just samples or is there software involved to? I see some "Kit Layouts" on the website. I'm download it now. As far as micing the stereo, I have an older version of this stereo...

    ribbon mics on guitars

Would using a ribbon mic in front of a cranked 2x12 combo cause damage? Is there a certain volume level that you shouldn't exceed with one of these?

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

GreenDank, that sounds pretty good. Are these the samples that come with Rhythm Rascal?

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

I had actually thought of this in the past, but never tried it. What kind of speakers do you think one would need to make this worthwhile? I don't have much available - I do have a stereo that I could possibly use, or two different sets of computer speakers (one set has much better bass...

Thanks - I'd love to hear it. There are some really good ideas in there.

    little home studio mixers

I don't get it - these Yamaha mixers seem very affordable, yet they seem to be held in higher regard to the Behringer mixers (around the same price point) and the Mackie mixers (higher in price). How is it that the Yamaha manages to be so much better for less cash? What makes it better than...

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

That's a very interesting idea...I'd actually given some thought to trying to add some percussion, but hadn't thought of playing the HH live...

    programmed vs live drums

I'd have to go with the live drummer between these two, but I'd say that's mostly because the samples are so dry that the drum track on the old version sounds a lot like the drums from Kid A by Radiohead. The mix of the newer version just seems a bit more alive with added ambience of the drums.

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

WOW. That sounds great! So this was programmed? That's amazing - I would have guessed that someone had played it on an e-Kit and that the MIDI track was fed into DFKHS. That sounds fantastic. I don't have DKFHS currently - it's on my short list though. Unfortunately, cash is on my short...

Getting realistic results from programmed drums

Not sure why I couldn't post this on Friday, but for some reason it kept getting lost in the void. Until I raise some funds, I'm stuck using a step sequencer and drum samples to make my drum tracks. Currently I am using a library of samples called "Real Live Drums" (it's a few years old now)...

    programmed vs live drums

Those links don't work. Actually, I was listening to the old version again last night. Can you post a link to the site, so we can listen from there?

    Drum machine with cakewalk.....

That depends on what you are trying to do. If you are trying to record drum beats as audio (like you would for a vocal track, or a electric guitar), than any drum machine will do. If you are looking to record the drum parts as MIDI files, than you'll need a device with a MIDI out on it...

    60s drum recording techniques?

The book "Revolution In The Head" not only covers how the Beatles songs were written (who wrote what parts, what the song is about, etc.), but often covers how they were recorded, what studios/rooms they were recorded in, and sometimes what guitars/amps were used. A great read.

does the delta 44 sound better than the 2496?

Actually, I need MIDI because I was planning on using electronic drums to lay down the drum parts, and then use DFH2 to produce the sounds. Not sure on the software yet, but it will probably either be Sonar Home Studio or Tracktion. If I use a PCB based MIDI card, will it be fast enough? Will...
