I'm trying to decide now between a M-Audio 410 and the Firebox. They seem fairly similar. I'm surprised that the 410 has gotten no votes, but maybe nobody's using them at the moment.

How much of a difference is there in speed, or more importantly, when would the lag of a Firewire card start to become a problem?

I'd be interested to see how the Firebox stacks up to the M-Audio Firewire 410. They seem very similar.

When you guys are referring to the 1010 in this post, I can't always tell if you mean the 1010 or 1010LT. It is specified sometimes, but sometimes I'm not sure. For example: are you saying the 1010 has better sound quality than the 66 and 44 or that the 1010LT has better sound quality? Or...

I'm a HUGE John Peel fan. I've heard session versions that were better than the originals. BBC 6 Music still plays a lot of the Peel sessions everyday.

Simman, you sold me. Those drums sound GREAT! Does DFH allow you send drums to seperate channels? In other words, can you isolate the snare to one track so that you can add eq/compression/etc. through VST plugins?
