    A question on vocal mics

Thats about as good as your computer sound card will get! The mic input on that thing is designed for counter strike, not audio recording. There are some really really cheap mixers out there that will have at least one channel with a pre-amp. You can take the tape line out with an adapter...

    Session Drummer 2

Just do it like you would for any drums. You can do it in the piano roll view but I prefer to do it in the staff view. When you set the clef to "percussion" making your own beats is really fast. Then you can groove clip and loop them.

Dudes well simple question please someone help lol.

Inputs into your computer! The mixer may have 4 XLR inputs, but these are mixed into a stereo signal before transmitting into your computer. So, what you mix at that moment in time, is what your stuck with for the rest of your life.

    hissy vocal microphone- solution?

Your EQ should be used to remove hiss before you compress it? If the hiss is coming out with EQ and compression, it's not the mic, it's the EQ and compression...

    Any Ideas for mic stands?

Bottom line- If you can afford a pair of Oktavas, you can afford a pair of mic stands.

    PreSonus Firepod line outputs.

My Firepod has 8 line outputs on the back. I am currently using Sonar HS6. My problem is that these line outputs are paired into stereo sets. I can't send anything to just "3" I have to send it to "3-4". I've read through the Firepod manual and it somehow manages to not even once mention the...

    Wireless systems

Sennheiser freeport - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Sennheiser-Freeport-Wireless-Instrument-Set?sku=270629 It's cheap but it is built solid. The transmitter is heavy duty plastic and the receiver is made out of metal. 4 changeable frequencies and I haven't heard anything come out of it...

    Crunchy Guitars

Your using a distortion pedal directly into your mixer? The amp and speakers will take the signal you feed into it and "color" the sound. The line input on your mixer takes exactly what it hears. It sounds very distorted, is the gain on the mixer up too high? Is the input clipping? If not I...

    PreSonus FP10 FireWire Interface

I have the FirePod (Earlier model, I believe the FP10 just has nicer pre's) and it does what it does. As long as you have some good software to run it with it should be fine. It comes with Cubase LE which only lets you record 2 tracks simultaneously which is pretty stupid to put in with an 8...

Dudes well simple question please someone help lol.

The Alesis is only 2 inputs although it is internal USB! It tends to not tell you this in bold, and one of my friends bought it and was severely disappointed when he could not record multiple tracks. Above are probably your best options for recording in more than stereo.

Firepod Presonus, need help recording drums..

I've heard of people having this problem with the Firepod and Cubase before. All I can say is make sure your inputs are correct, as well as all of your sample rate and latency settings. If everything is as it should be and it's not working, call PreSonus? Good luck! -alex

How do YOU program your drum beats?

Sonar 6 HSXL comes with something called SessionDrummer2. It's like a real drummer that doesn't complain about a click track!

    What about ambience mic's?

If your room is acoustically untreated I would not suggest using an ambiance mic. An ambiance mic in a bad room will give you a sound of drums in a bad room. I record in a small almost perfectly cubical bedroom and a little EQ and artificial reverb can go a long way. In my case a room mic only...

New to recording, setting up basic studio need some advice

I wouldn't recommend the SM57's. These mic's have a reputation for being durable and being able to handle very loud noises.(close mic'ing snares and guitar cab's) Which doesn't sound like the application you want to use. For the things you want to do a pair of condensers like the Behringer C2...

    LDCs in an XY pattern?

http://www.cascademicrophones.com/images/FH_Blum.jpg One microphone usually comes from the front, and the other from the back. The top of the microphones almost touch, and they are turned in opposite directions (to get a stereo picture). Bi-directional microphones are used in this way to...

Will my foam adhesive tear down the drywall?

I'm asking now because the panels are about to fall down because the holes are getting so big. I need to find a different way to keep them on the wall. I know that it will will be a sticky removal, I just want to know how sticky it will be.

Will my foam adhesive tear down the drywall?

I have foam panels on the wall in the vocal booth, however they are held up by small nails that are starting to tear ever growing holes in the foam panels. When I bought the foam panels they came with "313 Foam & Fabric Spray Adhesive" and I didn't use this because I am still living with my...
