compression? or compression?
right. I think I get what you mean. it is not knowing how to use my compressor "properly" that has always made me shy away from it. maybe
I just have a cruddy compressor.
the physical or hardware one that I have is in with a bunch of other effects
in my GSP21Pro...
Howdy Jim Lad, Clivus and Mattr!
we have a consensus almost :)
you 3 guys are all very cool and helpful. thanks. I'm getting good stuff
from all 3. and in my own mind, am putting it in my "time and place for
everything, and everything in it's place" folder.
I've been playing for 43 years...
Thanks Much Jim And Clivus!
all the difference in ze world. thank you so much. I could not find that in the
book. though......it MAY be there. i couldn't find it, so thanks fellas.
that literally saves me doing a few tracks (all of them..lol!!) completely
over again.
thanks bouldersoundguy :)
not the right word then....good! ok, in cubase sx3, I can't find anyplace
that let's me do what I want to do. there are various EQ's and compressors
in the VST section, and they're not all that cheezy looking. just not
particularly idiot proof either.
a volume...
I've read a lot of comments saying how bad it is. why is it so bad?
well, in particular, for a demo, is it really all that bad? I have some
tracks that get too loud in spots and need to be sort of......
evened out. is 'normalizing' even the right term to use?
sorry for my newbie ignorance...
amp models vs. amps
I know. just tryin ta sneak my own 2 cents in there :laughings:
been using both my own self. my coal burning Digitech GSP 21 Pro is really
pretty cool for recording. nice reverb, delay, etc..really cheeezyoverdrive.
for that I do the ol' stick the amp in the bathroom with...
I too like real amps
but which one? ah....the question of the day.
I have a Randall RG 80 PH with a monitor cab
that has a huge 12" Gauss in it. sounds really
good. but it is really really loud.
I also have a 68 Deluxe Reverb with a 12 in it I guess.
but it needs to stay in it's room and...
some good ideas here
I have an old Fisher X-100B tube amplifier. it's a stereo hi-fi amp. it
was my dad's. it's really cool. I read somewhere (can't remember)
that a lot of singers like the old fisher amps as vocal preamps.
just a thought. I need to check into how to tweak it for microphones...
got the mp3's done in cubase
not sure why I needed CEP2.0 which I don't have or Jet Audio which I now
DO have. cubase had the bells and whistles I needed. just had to fumble around in the dark for awhile till I suss'd it out :)
Jet Audio
sorry, don't mean to hijack a thread. so I'll mosey along :)
I bought a thing called jet audio, a file converter for 20 bucks.
let's see if I can figure out how to use it. cheers y'all!
well, thanks for the replies everyone
here's what happened...
he sent me an mp3 of a project he is working on. it opened
right up in my cubase sx3 without me batting an eyelash. it just
opened as a stereo wav file in a new project like that's what it
was supposed do.
then, I added a bunch of...
howdy all. would audacity be as good for editing as the old cool edit pro?
I can't find a legit copy of cool edit pro anywhere. I have a friend/partner
in the music recording/charitable organization bizness(s) who thinks I need
cool edit pro 2.0
the charitable subsidiary is bringing in more...
Ahoy There, Nave!
cool name. I like it :)
you mentioned eggZACTly what I need to know about. that being: using
audacity as an external editor as Reaper has limitations in this respect.
ok, I didn't know that. but I certainly believe you. I have Cubase SX3,
it's a legit copy I bought from a...
Just remember that a clean pig is still a pig....
exactly. I was just kidding. I'm not any more terrible than anyone else really.
I use reverb judiciously and try try try to find an overdrive sound that isn't cheez whiz.
that's it. no effects for me thanks. I hate all that stuff. even...
anyone used a ReezaFRATzitz pedal yet?
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/-RF1-ReezaFRATzitz-Distortion-Guitar-Effects-Pedal?sku=153041
if yes, any critiques? thanks!
thanks jay. I have been using a tele american standard, into the tube
screamer, then thru the GSP21Pro.....for 'slight' reverb and EQ, then straight
to sound card. before I added the old digitech processor to the soup, it
all sounded pretty cheezy, yes :)
not bad at all now. so I needs a better...
