    New Overheads for my studio

You really owe it to yourself to check out the Studio Projects B1's.. $99ea. These were tested by pros (www.thelisteningsessions.com) using some of the best gear in the industry and still were favored over some $1000 mics. LD condensers are a better choice for overheads anyway unless you're...

    Which Roland?

Yes, sax, I would put it that way. If you want some great piano sounds, the RD700 is pretty sweet. If you want a multipurpose keyboard that can do everything except bake you cookies... X8 is it. The sequencer is pretty amazing on this beast. As for me, I've played keys now for about 5-6...

    What do you guys recommend

You would still get an incredible more amount of detail using a condenser mic... even if it was the B1. B1 is a pretty decent mic for the price. I'd sell you my AKG c3000b if you're interested... $175, sells in stores for $299. PM me if interested. jp

Fastest way to learn Sonar 4 PE

Hey all, I've been recording for years, just not in the computer realm. I am making the switch and have purchased Sonar 4, PE. What is the fastest way to learn Sonar 4... any suggestions? Are there any DVD's out there or other resources to learn? I know about www.digitalmusicdoctor.com and...

    Which Roland?

I just bought the FantomX8 from www.bpmmusic.com and it is INCREDIBLE. The sounds and options are phenominal. I can't stop playing with it. :) By the way, don't know if you've thought about where to get one... but Dwight @ BPM Music sells the x8 considerably lower than other large retail...

    Patchbay Setup..

Actually, I don't want a snake. I have a snake... I'm wanting to organize my rack. I like the idea of having a patchbay to plug all my mics into on the rack. One organized place... instead of loose wires all over the place. This is the routing diagram I am referring to: MIC INTO XLR CABLE...

    Patchbay Setup..

NOthing on this issue, huh? I'm in the same situation. I have like 12 channels of pres in my rack and it is annoying to have to pull the rack back to plug in cables to the mics... it would be real nice to have an XLR-like patchbay so I can route all my pres to the patchbay, then connect cables...

Why Sonar or Why Cubase? I don't get it?!

resh is just pissed cause I talked bad about his PT LE setup. LOL You don't have to "own" the software to read reviews, comparison charts, or statistics and determine from these what software to choose. Geeze..

Why Sonar or Why Cubase? I don't get it?!

Actually, this is my real challenge... lol. I've treated my room and use Mackie HR824's as monitors... been thinking about switching to Dynaudios though.. I'm planning to get the FireFace 800 as of right now..

Why Sonar or Why Cubase? I don't get it?!

Wish it were that easy for me! I feel like I'm not giving Cubase a chance by not being able to test it. Stupid Steinburg... why on earth don't they have a demo version?!?

Why Sonar or Why Cubase? I don't get it?!

I'm about to purchase one of the programs... I've done a lot of research on them, but it's amazing how some people are for sonar, other's for cubase. What's the deal? Is it just preference? Just "look and feel"? Wish Cubase had a "demo" version like Sonar... I've played around with Sonar and...

    Focusrite ISA 428 Pre Pack

    Cubase or Pro Tools??

Sorry.. CDR or CDRW... What Roland does not tell you, is that inside of their nicely dressed roland burner is a plexwriter from plextor! Sooo.. you don't have to use the "roland" burner... but get a plexwriter. Much cheaper! :)

    Cubase or Pro Tools??

Doubt it! You setup a PT|HD system for $10k and you've wasted your money. The whole point of using a PT system is taking advantage of it's expandability & plugs... If you aren't investing at least $10k in plugs, you're better off going native and using free plugs or the plugs that come with...

    Cubase or Pro Tools??

Green Hornet- By the way, you can use other CDRW's for the Roland stuff. Roland just doesn't tell you this. :) I used a Plextor CD Writer for years on my VS-2480.

    Cubase or Pro Tools??

You can use other interfaces with ProTools! And PT does have a limit of 32 tracks. I would highly encourage you not to go the PT route though. If you want to take advantage of ProTools.. you need the TDM system... ProTools|HD. And you're not going to get into a system like that for less...
