Just stumbled over the Boss 550MkII in my house. It was my girlfriend's ex's.
I don't have much drum machine experience at all.
So what's the feelings on this little unit.
Should I make use of it or spring for something newer and updated?
Yes, the Johnny Hiland link was a treat. I read about him but never heard him until now.
Makes me wanna practice like a crazy man.
Some of his stuff in Orange Blossom Special reminded of the Hellecaster's version.
I use a strat and tele. Using the bridge pickup(s) is helpful.
I play through the Boss compressor and delay stomp boxes.
The compressor knobs are all pretty much at 12:00. The delay is set long but the effect level is set low, keeping it subtle.
Clean is good but if you can get just a hint...
So how come Neil Young didn't make this thread??
Though I think he wrote some beautiful songs, as a guitarist.......
Holy Christ!!
I never really got that whole Bruce phenomona, either.
Remember - we're talking the dollar to skill ratio.
Anyone know how he died??
I saw him play live at the Bottom Line in NYC back in the mid 90's.
He was one of many at a Danny Gatton Tribute show. He was teamed up with Corky Laing.
And yes, he was still playing bass.
Thanks, Richie.
I never soldered. Does anyone make the correct cables?
If not, are the RNC's worth holding onto?
Everybody here seems to make quite a fuss about them.
Are they really that slick?
I have the Avalon 2022 and I just ordered the RNC.
After ordering the RNC I read someone's statement on this site that the 2 units were a pain to hook up together. Then I read that the RNC is unbalanced. Hmmm. I'll assume that's where the problem lies.
The 2022 is the only preamp I own...
I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show when I was 7.
From that moment I knew I had to make that sound.
Then later of course there were the Page/ Blackmore years, the jam like Johnny Winter era, etc.
The last 20 years or so it's been the finger style and over the top tele guys that make me...
Thanks again, GH.
I have most of the basic operational stuff under control. Actually, you helped me out a bit last fall when I first bought the 2816.
Up until now, everything I did was acoustic and I had no real need for drums.
I've been recording my friend's songs and they have electric...
Hey Green Hornet,
Thanks for answering but I must have given the impression that I already had drum samples. I do not. I have nothing. I need info on the drum samples themselves. Do I need a sampler? Are there plug ins for the Yamaha that I can use? Do I need a keyboard or something to...
How do I record sampled drum sounds into a Yamaha 2816.
I'm really clueless on this part of the whole rcording thing.
What do I need to buy? Who makes the good stuff? etc.....
Thanks!!
The solo in the Kid Rock/ Sheryl Crow tune drives me nuts for that same reason. He hits some notes that me say "Holy Christ!!" every time I hear it.
I guess that's the vibe they're looking for.
I have a tele I had made from parts I picked out.
It has a really light swamp ash body, a rosewood board neck with jumbo frets and 10 inch radius.
The pick ups are Joe Barden.
The only thing Fender onit is the hardware.
I use it for jazz, blues, rock, country twangin', Chet Atkins finger style...
