I've recorded before back in the day and am now realizing I like tape way better than digi (probably because I'm a drummer). Anyways, I'm really on a budget and would like to multitrack (8) my drums onto tape asap (I can dump onto my computer later, right?).
Right now I have some mics, a Alesis...
Ok, that wasn't really a yes/no question though.
I was wondering if I can go tape (which I have no problem with because I think my drums sound better on tape anyway) or another route...such as a card, etc. There's more than one way to skin a cat, I just have limited funds here.
I have an Alesis Multimix 16USB, is there a way to multitrack directly into my computer, or would I have to go DAT, mix and then dump it in? Help! I don't want to get stuck with everything in ONE TRACK!
I believe his name is Jim Brown. I could be wrong. That was a few years ago and may have gone through his hands. Last I heard, the place was not doing well financially, and I could tell last time we recorded there.
That was my kit, btw, at Pachyderm Studio, where Nirvana recorded In Utero. It was a blast! That room that I was in is called the granite room, with rock tile all the way around (and to think Dave Grohl was rocking out in there)!
Maybe just leave the drums in the larger room. Mic them. Then roll in some coat racks and hang sheets, clothes, cloth, etc. around the kit to knock down the reverb. You know, like a temporary closet?
