If I want to mixdown to the tape deck on my home stereo, do I go stereo outs of the mr8 and use 1/4 to stereo mini plug adapters, or do I get a mini plug cable and use stereo mini plug to 1/4 adapters, or something else? Thanks.

I know EQ is important, but I think the source of the sound and mic placement, etc, is MORE important. Take a recording that is done with a good sound source and good technique, and you will not have to EQ it very much. Just my opinion.

What kind of mic are you using? It's probably more about the placement and technique you are using.

I have that mic. I could never really get a good acoustic recording with it. Could you tell me the placement you did?

sm57's are a good all-around mic. Decent on everything, not great on a certain thing. The v67 is pretty good on vocals, and are cheap. For guitar, I'd go with a sennheiser e609 for around 80-100 bucks. As far as drums go, at the very least, you want three mics: a kick and two overheads. The mxl...

I found a very old mixer at a pawn shop called a Malatchi Performer. It was 6 channels, extremely vintage. The guy had no clue about it and offered 150. There is absolutely nothing about it on the internet, so does anybody know anything about this? Thanks.

Thanks. I tend to lose interest in recording if I don't like get new equipment or something...I just get frustrated. I figured it was time to upgrade a little bit, so I also got a new mic. I've been using a cheap Audio Technica ATR30 since I've had my recorder.

Well, the 1002 has 4 stereo channels, and the 802 has 2, so I went ahead and ordered the 1002 since it was only 10 bucks more. I am anxiously waiting it's arrival. This isn't really a fostex question, but I know a lot of people in here use behringer ub808 and 1002 mixers. Is there really a difference between the two besides 10 bucks? Which would you prefer?

How much will say...a SM57 improve my quality in comparison to what i'm using now, an ATR30. Would spending the money be justified by a large increase in quality? Thanks.

well, the rewinding problem was a one time problem. But the recording problem is still there. It doesn't change the quality or anything...but it's strange. Is it worth to inquire about getting it fixed if it doesn't really affect too much?
