    rack mount a tower pc

I did the same thing ('rackify' my PC)-, because I cant' find rack mounted PC housing for less than $150 in Europe and becuase I want it in an ISO Box. I hate noise when working ! I cn't understand people that have PC's in their studios that make more noise than an acoustic guitar... Herwig

where can i buy extra md 421 clips?

What Han says... original clips cost waaaaaaaaaay too much, while for 2$ and some free time you can make your own. I glued mine to the mic, now I'm sure it'll never fall off again (and I'll never lose it again :D ) Herwig

Help me out with 6 drum mics

Let's see... if you can buy second hand: AKG D112 (100 2nd hand, 150 new) 4x SM-57 (200-250) 2x Behringer ECM8000 (2x 35 new, so cheap, buy them new) (also the ECM8k's are omni, you won't be needing a hat mic) Well, you've got some cash left for mic stands (20 each) and cables. You could off...

    $100 for 4 sm57s

  As the great Fletcher says: "SM-57 never seem to be the best mic for any particular application, but they never sound bad." I'd rather have an ok sound than a bad sound. Herwig

    top general tom mic's ?

I'm not a metal player, but I play regularly with people who are. For that kick sound, you'll want a) twso kick microphones, one inside, one at the beaters' side or b) triggers added to the original... (*klik* from hell ;) ) Proof in a sense of 'do you know bands who've done that' or 'show me a...

Help me spend some money - SDC's

Thanks for the replies all. I'm not a fan of Oktava, SP, Behrie, MXL and all the likes, though I haven't heard any of those yet. It's more of a 'stick to the classics' thing, I'm starting to learn about resale value... Gonna talk to the wife about these mics... I think she needs to be convinced...

Help me spend some money - SDC's

Hi, A friend of me offered me a great deal on a pair of Neumann KM184's .. matched pair, in a box with windscreens and everything. These cost like €800 a piece over here and he could get them for €795 + 21% VAT (which I can tax deduct, 'coz they're business costs for me  ) Can I justify...

    Bass Guitar - Bridge question.

I haven't owned a string-through yet, but what people say about sustain seems more a build-quality issue to me than just the 'string-through'-thing... A well built 'normal' bridge will have more sustain than any badly-built 'string-through' model... Just my €.02 Herwig

ST Audio C Port cheers? jeers?

I have two of them with a third one in the mail. Great soundcards at their price point. Reliable, fast (between 2 and 5ms latency),... only drawback perhaps is unbalanced connections, but that's what you pay for. There's some troubles with Cubase SX2 and Nuendo 2 but the company (which is...

    Sync Box Recomentations....

Just thought about sumthing: Cubase has the ability to make SMPTE tracks ... this way you lose an output (and a fostex track) but it should work without having to buy anything. So: console -> midi -> cubase as slave to console and sending a SMPTE track -> audio cable -> Fostex 16track... this...

    Sync Box Recomentations....

There's some midi interfaces (Motu, Midiman,..) out there that have a SMTPE output, one those could/should do the trick imo. Only backdraw is you lose a channel on the Fostex of course.. (the motu one goes for about $500 i guess) Really liking the C-ports here. Installing a second took me 5...

Two Delta 1010's in one PC....

No problems here using 2 8ch I/O cards (not M-audio, ST-Audio, but they're supposed to be 90% identical in hardware). What you need to check first is that your cards don't share an irq with anything else in your system - took me 5 minutes to check every PCI slot, inserted the second card, boot...

Could you post what kind of connections all of your equipment has ?? There's lot of clocks that do all 4 (wordclock, aes/ebu, s/pdif coax and optical) .. As a matter of fact, I have 2 C-ports and a 3rd one in the mail, clocked by a Mutec Smart Clock (8x WC out, 1x AES/EBU, 1x coax & 1x...

    Electric Upright Bass

There's many different pickups around. Mine is an underwood (=piezo element) straight into amp. Other systems use microphones or magnetic pickups (the last one gives you a more 'electric' sound) and combinations of the above - also there's a big market for preamps for these pickups because of...

    Electric Upright Bass

Why not use the acoustic upright for effects ? I've done this with success before (wah, disto, delay, loops, ...) Check out an old minidisc recording of a school ensemble while using a wah: http://www.gyraf.be/herwig/mp3 -> Casablanca Quintet in Sounds Herwig
