The PAD switch is there to drop levels to the mic pre in the event of high SPL (sound pressure level) sources. This DOESN'T mean you can't physically damage the mic's capsule by exceeding it's SPL capacity using the switch. Bruce

If you're using a keyboard as a midi controller only, then whether it's General Midi or not is irrelevant. GM is a midi spec primarily for the assignment of patches - it has little to do with midi command control. Bruce Valeriani Blue Bear Sound

The recording is not bad, very usable, but a tad muddy and slightly grainy. Mind you - an MP3 is not the way to distinguish sonic details... so unless you have a comparison sound clip of the same sound recorded thru a decent mic pre, there's no way to tell if the graininess is due to the MP3...

Hate to burst your bubble, but true mastering gear alone will run you in the order of tens of thousands of dollars more than the gear you listed.... You can burn $5K for a compressor alone.......... and let's not even talk about monitoring! Check out http://www.digido.com for mastering info...
