    Ultra-Beat

You know, I've played around with this for about a week, and I can't recreate what was going on. I recall it having to deal with looping an area in the arrange window, and playing around with the tempo settings. If I had anything other than 4/4 time, ultrabeat would be a little funky.

    Ultra-Beat

I have had this happen a couple times. I know the answer, but I can't recall it. I will test it out tomorrow when I get the chance to see if I can recreate the problem. Hopefully you'll have your answer soon :)

    Question about effects

Also, the shortcut to get to the automation mode in the arrange window is the "a" key on the keyboard. Simply press "a" and you can toggle back and forth between automation and normal view.

    Question about effects

In fact you do!! Have fun with it all. Remember that you can automate just about everything in Logic. Volume, pan, effect parameters like cutoff, resonance, attack, release, pitch, reverbs, delays . . . Don't get too overwhelmed ;) Post some music in the MP3 mixing clinic when you're done!

    Question about effects

I use Kinetic's method often, but with delays and reverbs it can be a little tricky (more so I think with delays). The effect bypass is extremely useful. A shortcut to doing it on the fly is to option-click on the effect plug-in in the mixer view while in automation mode (latch, write...). I...

    Question about effects

Sunsetsdown has it right. Check out this video for more general information on Automation. The real meat of what you will need it in the middle, but it won't hurt to watch all of it. . . I would also heavily recommend watching more of SFlogicninja's videos on youtube if you haven't already...

super super cool new song by me!

After some consideration I realized that you have captured two niche markets: Nintendo game development and production (circa 1986) Military interrogation, research and development

You need to go outside for awhile. This is about 25 "songs" from you in a little over a week.

Four Short Samples Of Things I've Recorded

I have four short samples of songs I've recorded for people somewhat recently. If anyone wants to check the samples out I would love some feedback. I know that none are full songs - I'll just say I did it for all the ADD people out there ;) Happy listening! (I hope)...

    Logic enthusiast!!!!

You're right about Delay Designer. It's a tool of magnificence.

    Logic enthusiast!!!!

I, also am a Logic user and enthusiast, however I wouldn't bash PT quite that much. PT's elastic audio is a great feature that Logic should adopt. The plug-ins for PT are actually really great (I'm referring to the bundles that come with most start up versions of PT). As far as the hardware...

All round home studio mic suggestions please.

I also vote for the sm7b. If you want to hear and see it in action check this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAVTro6362k&feature=channel The lead singer, danny, is using it. . .

    Mastering Plug-ins

I got by using Logic's built in suite of plug-ins for quite some time. I recently upgraded to T-racks 3 and Sonalksis' mastering plug-in suite. I use T-rack's EQ and the rest of the Sonalksis' plugins for the rest. Logic's Sub-bass plug is really handy, as well as the EQ Matching plug in. What...

    Patchbay and Mic Pre Question

A patch bay will help you out. I use one for the same reasons you've listed. I have not noticed any signal quality loss. Just make sure you invest in good patch cables, and a nice patchbay. Good luck John

    Logic Studio vs Logic Express

Wrong. I am also slightly offended by this. I run a perfectly fine studio on two Intel mac mini's using Logic's node feature. I rarely run into any performance issues. I do have to be careful about running too many instances of SpaceDesigner or Software instruments (I can only run 4-6 of each...

Home Recording Tips Everyone Must Have!

this was worse than watching the jonas brothers on stage with Stevie Wonder at the grammy's - I really felt bad for Stevie (no sarcasm here, honestly I sort of died inside)

    studio upgrades help

The preamps on the firepods aren't bad. A really nice "gold channel" might be good for you (nice mic, nice pre, nice compressor maybe...). Personally I would look at expanding my mic closet, or investing in room treatments first. I know room treatment doesn't sound exciting and it's not really...

    "Tape Speed"

You can try playing around with the Sample Editor's Pitch & Time Machine. It allows a user to manipulate both independently if needed. I'll look into other possibilities as well.

    Two problems...

To address you first problem: I am not too familiar with the MOTU interfaces mentioned, but am curious as to how you enabled the outputs. Try opening up the Audio MIDI Setup (AMS) (Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup) and see if you can tweak anything there. There should be a section...
