    Shure SM7b

I have a mercenary audio sm-58.....actually sent my own 58 to them to alter...I believe that the $15 difference has to do with the level of difficulty in the installation of the transformer......

Exporting 24-bit tracks from Tascam 2488neo (or Tascam 2488 Mkii)

....thank you....my 2488 mkll is new to me (coming from a dp01-fxcd). I had assumed that the bit depth went to 16 during mastering.....I now notice the "24" in the upper right corner of the pre-master screen....much to learn about this machine....

Exporting 24-bit tracks from Tascam 2488neo (or Tascam 2488 Mkii)

I didn't know it was possible to do a stereo mix in 24 bit with a 2488....is this done in pre-master mode?

....the perception 100 and 200 are pretty decent....I'd expect that the 120 is too

    Sony ecm 22p

.....just dug deep into the drawer of old microphones and grabbed a pair of Sony electret condenser mics - ecm-22p's....tried a stereo (x,y) set up on acoustic guitar....pretty impressive for a couple of 35 year old, relatively inexpensive mics.....

    AKG Perception 170

I don't know what they changed when the model was "upgraded" from the Perception 150, but I tried a pair of those and never was able to get a good stereo acoustic guitar sound.....I'm now using a pair of AKG c1000's, bought used for about the same price as new 150's - they are vastly superior...

    Recording a Bluegrass Group

I've offered to record a song for a local bluegrass group. They are a 4 piece, high energy group and this song will be done on a Tascam 2488 mk ll in my livingroom.....my idea is to record the group live, with all four guys facing each other and with just a lead vocal track - 5 tracks in...

    Tascam 2488neo

it has much better pre amps than the dp01....with the dp01 I needed to use an external pre amp to record at a decent volume....

    Tascam 2488neo

I've had a chance to do some recording on my new 2488 mk ll today and I have to say that the difference between this recorder and a dp01-fxcd is tremendous.....first of all, the sound difference between the 16 bit dp01 and the 24 bit 2488 is incredible - and it records at a much higher...

    Tascam 2488neo

I've taken advantage of the neo introduction to buy a mk ll at a very good price.....it should be a giant step up from my dp01-fxcd which is only 8 track, 16 bit, and is without onboard compression.....hope it's as easy to use as the dp01.....it was delivered this afternoon.....I should know by...

    dp01-fxcd question

the manual for this machine confuses me.....can an external compressor be connected to the external effects out return through the stereo "ins"?...if so, that wouldn't seem to give a great deal of control during final mix....anyone here used a compressor with the dp01?

    Compression and Tascam dp01-fxcd

I'm about to start a recording project for which I've been writing for just over a year.....it will be done in 16 bit on a dp01 fxcd....I'm using an ART MPA Gold microphone pre amp along with a couple of AKG condensers and a Beyer m-500 vocal mic....the recording will be "folk" and will include...

    16 bit / 24 bit

I guess that what I really want to know is, will my finished/mastered product have volume equal to a recording that is done in 24 bit?

    16 bit / 24 bit

....so, if I record in 16 bit I will have less volume.....can that be increased to standard cd levels when it's mastered?.....by the way, I'll be using a tascam dp01-fxcd

    16 bit / 24 bit

the recording I'm about to start is going to be aprox 60 minutes of material to be put on a cd.....I've had some good success recording on a tascam dp01-fxcd, but have been wondering if it is good enough...the finished recording will be mastered before it is sent out to be put on cd's and...

    16 bit / 24 bit

.....what are the practical and actual differences between 16 and 24 bit recording?.....I'm about to begin an acoustic recording and am using a 16 bit workstation.....will that be adequate, or should I invest in a 24 bit recorder?

Help with setup using DP-01 and Bluetube Pre amp

I thought the dp-01 was lacking effects and phantom power....if this is correct, you will need the phantom power supplied by your pre-amp....if the pre-amp has phantom power and 1/4" phone inputs only, you'll need to get some 3 connector 1/4" phone plugs on your mic cables in order to connect to...
