New track Lazy days, what do you think ?

Cool. Like the beat. The tracks (before the drop) sound pretty dry. A little mix bus compression (very low ratio, and only compressing a little bit) might help the tracks 'glue' together a bit better, IMO. Either that or you can put a subtle reverb stereo send in there and send a small amount of...

    Mellow Song.

TBH I liked the IC version better. The bass had better clarity as did the vox.

Haven't recorded in years, couldn't mix then, can I now?

The low mid buildup in the banjo/guitar tracks is noticeable in that first verse (300-350 Hz). Find I'm wanting the track to be brighter overall (a little more sheen on the vox, a little more brightness in the strings). Bass could use a small bump in level; doing a high-pass filter at about...

    This Weeks Mix - Sugar

Cool song. Nice riff. Snare is really lost though. Kick is fighting the lows on the guitars and bass. Agreed that the brass is in general too loud. Vocal is nice and up front, though.

    My Little Box of Wires

Hey Trip... how've you been? It's been a while. Agreed with others on the guitar levels. Another idea you can ignore (or not). Have you tried listening to a reference track from someone like the Beach Boys or some early 60's pop bands through your monitoring set up? That might shed some light...

BatsBrew TunesS, 2 for 1 tonight only

Hey dude.... LOOONG time no listen! Was just cruzin the internet looking for samicide's tune "riches to rags" and it led me here. Thought I'd look at the ancient MP3 Mixing Clinic, and saw a familiar name. Last tune from you think I heard was "Take it All". 2002-2003?? Are you still in the...

    looking for Partypant's ears....

(monitoring on cans) Sounds pretty nice and full, joro. In the intro... @ 0:05 or so, another track comes in to the mix... and it sounds like crickets or someone laughing or finger noise on a string or breath noise or something... a little distracting... it cuts out @ 0:15. Sounds like this...

Would? by Alice in chains cover - second take

Computers aren't always the best tools for midi. Midi timing can be screwed up by a whole host of things -- the quartz clock on your soundcard, the hard drive doing a cache flush at the wrong time, DAW loading multiple .wav files into the playback cache, etc. Again... I didn't sit down and...

    Point Of View

What I meant by "the 2-mix" is the stereo mix. I never heard your other mix. This mix still has a compression problem, IMO. It's not really a pumping or breathing problem; it's a "pushing the limiter a bit hard" problem. The vocal track is where you notice it. The human voice is loudest in the...

    Point Of View

A lot of heavy compression/limiting on the 2-mix. Too noticable, probably. Vocal track sounds odd... dry in comparison to the mix. Good singing though.
