thoughts on the Satellite and firewire/usb pre question

Hey Mark, I was just re-iterating an opinion that's out there. I'm sure if I didn't have any problem with it I would love it cuz you get the ONYX Pre's... System is very comparible to yours... maybe I could reduce the sample rate. I'll hook it up again today and give it another shot. Thanks!

thoughts on the Satellite and firewire/usb pre question

thanks for the response. I tend to agree with the preamp comment. I have that UX2 now and I wouldn't ever use the mic pre's for vocals. SO HERE is a new conceptual signal path for Vocals/Acoustic: Shure KSM27 > PreSonus Eureka Pro > M-Audio FireWire 1814 > Laptop Any comments on that setup...

    how about this signal chain?

Sounds like most people like the FireBox for an interface. I was thinking about getting that along with the ART Digital MPA: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ART-DMPA-Pro-2-Channel-Mic-Pre-with-Digital-Outs?sku=180629 1. Would using the 1/4" TRS in/out on the systems provide a high...

whats the ideal soundcard or interface for solo artist to buy?

Satellite is horrible design. I used mine for two days before I gave up. latency issues and data clipping are infuriating. Want to buy mine? lol. But yes the ONYX pre's are def grea if you get the real mixing consoles.

thoughts on the Satellite and firewire/usb pre question

ONYX pres are good. Satellite sucks! Nothin but latency and data transfer issues (clipping) with this thing. It's been said before on a couple other threads, but yeah I bought it when it came out and haven't touched it in months. With that being said, are there any decent firewire-based...

    Guitar tone HELP

From my experience with MB, they take a sh*t load of tweaking, especially the EQ, to get the sound you want. I had a Studio PreAmp for awhile and I loved it after I checked online for some settings others were using. With that said, what do you think is wrong with the sound? It is somewhat...

    The Dream is Over...new mix

The ambient FX sound cool in the beginning but clean up the fadeout of those FX 0:12 unless that's intentional. Traumatic to my ears when the guitars come in. Agreed BAss roX, prolly the strongest aspect of this mix. seems like the drums are burried somewhat overall. i like when everything...

I'M a Newbie! My first Mix & I need help!

strings are cheezy sounding but i like the riff. add lite verb to piano. also, back off the mic (proximity) and don't be afraid to experiment with eq and verb on vocals. i like the piano riff. instrument at 1:15 is way too loud. kick is way too loud. i'd add bass line when drums come in...

"Heart of Gold" acoustic duo version

Awesome acoustic sounds and lead vox - maybe bring them up a little. I agree with Smaltonian - bring up the harmony. Haven't listened to your others though. Throw in some bass and drums ;)

    Stranded

I think the mix is very well balanced. Definitely bring up the bass and kick to flavor. Very nice panning. The VoX sound nice, maybe bring up the mid-highs in them. the electric riff is awesome. nice work.

    Beer smokin weed drinkin....

Nice guitar tone. Vox definitely way too low. Bring up the low end. Definitely sounds 'stuffy' Try expanding the stereo field maybe? I like the tune a lot though the mixing needs a lot of work.

    Acoustic Song - Come On

nice The rhythym track sounds very open and bright. What setup did you use to get that sound? Overall it sounds very clear and the parts don't compete too much for space. Whatever you are doing, you're doing it right. Maybe cut back the verb on the vox, but I almost like it, sounds like...

    new original

Hi everyone, I have been watching this BBS for awhile and just registered. I have been recording for a couple years now. I was hoping some would like to check out this mixdown and any comments are welcome. Specifically, how do the guitars, vocals, and drums sound? The vocalist is decent...
