    wav-mp3 convertor

I'm wondering if you guys know of anny good freeware out on the internet that can convert wav's to mp3's without losing quality. When I export my songs as an mp3, they sound very muffled.

What style do these lyrics fit?

I'm getting a strong Bright Eyes vibe. Or perhaps an Incubus like song.

Multi effects processors vs. stomp boxes?

i personally find all-in-one signal procesors annoying. they're too cpmplicated for me. If I ant distortion and reverb, I'd rather just hit a reverb stombox and a distortion stombox, rather than using my feet to manuver a boad and trying t figure out what 'bank' to use and trying to get it with...

    Fixing paint chips

fix it? What? Unless you're a classical or jazz guitarist, I wouldn't fix it. Battle scars make a guitar look even better.

    hardcore vocals

Hah, it is when they're supplying the cash. And, alright, I have no idea if this band is hardcore, or metalcore, or grindcore, or screamo. All I know is they play loud and fast and scream every song. Metal has gone into so many sub-sub genres that describe the same general sound it's retarded.

    hardcore vocals

Really? You'd put it through an amp? If I was gonna do that, Should I have him sing through a twenty buck sony dynamic mic, plug that into the amp, the record with a 57, or have him sing into a 57 and record that with the cheap sony? Okay, so what I'm hearing mostly is use the 57. Now I just...

    hardcore vocals

Okay, I have a hardcore band coming in to record 2 or 3 songs in a few weeks[ very atreyu-ish, with some yngvie malmsteen-like guitarwork] and I'm wondering about recording the vocals. The lead vocalist screams every single song, as far as i know, and i've heard a 57 is used alot to record...

do you mix vocals with the beat?

After i record vocals, I personally lke to listen to the vocals all the way through once by themselves to check for performance, and then I play the instrumrnts with the vox when mixing.

    EQ and Mixing

download the voxengo span plug in. It's free, and you use it while playing, say, you're bass track only. It'll show you on a chart what frequencies the bass is depending on alot. However, I don't usually eq guitars all that much. At least I don't eq electric guitars all that much.

I can't hear myself through my headphones?

First of all, of ourse you want to hear yourself in the microphones. Otherwise you'll be all off pitch and stuff. Secondly, brooklyn, check your digital firebox mixer[ if you don't know how, post back sayin so, i'll tell you how] and make sure the button under "Mix to Headphones" is pushed...

    bit crusher problems

I'm doina sort of, Korn, marilyn manson, Nine Inch Nails-ish song, and I want to use the bit crusher to put a lo-fi effect on my vocals, but every time i use the lo fi preset, it gives me a lisp. Does anyone know a way to tweak the settings on the bit crusher so that it gives me a fuzzy, lo-fi...

    panning lead guitar

well, the idea would be that the lead guitar, other than the solo, plays pretty much the same chord progression as the rhythymn through the song, but may add in a few notes here and there to catch thje listener off guard and fill out and layer the song a little.

    panning lead guitar

Okay, heres a question for singer songwriters out there that record every instrument themselves. Well, I guess bands could answer this to. If you have a rhythymn guitar and a lead guitar in a song, but the lead, for the most part, just doubles the rhythymn throught the song, with perhaps a few...

    Equipment suggestions for recording metal

Okay, maybe I'm confused about something, but doesnt the mobile pre have a preamp and soundcard? Maybe I'm thinking of a different piece of equipment. For your latency issues, the way I see it, ya got to options. The cheaper way would be just to keep your mobile pre and upgrade to a USB 2...

    Pad and Rolloff features?

I don't think its gonna be a problem for ya. So you've got a really loud voclist and normally you'd use and 10 or 20 db pad? why not just turn down the gain on your pod? So you're recording a really high soprano and would normally roll of at 75 or 150 Hz? Why not just record her and cut out the...

    Fuzz effect

I don't know what pedal you should get, but if you need it for recording, all you need is a bit crusher plug in.

    I Am An American

uhhh......no. I mean, patriotism is great, but I don't like the song at all. Maybe if it was a country song. Or a song meant for little children thats supposed to cheesy sounding, but for a rock song, no way.I hate it.

    My lyrics thread

no problem. Just be careful when writing free-structured songs. It'll either work REALLY good and sound awesome, or REALLY bad and sound like random shit.
