well, i wouldnt be using the computer's card/speakers. i've got a firebox and some m-audio speakers i use already. I don't know anybody who use the onboard stuff.

well, lets just say you bought the firebox. The box would be connected to your laptop firewire connection. Then, from there are two quarter inch jacks in the back called your right and Left Main out. You'd use those to connect to your speakers, or whatever you need them to connect to.
