I was of the understanding that the 84 was the same circuit as the 73 with more eq and no DI. Is this incorrect?

You must be the only other guy I know who has a pair of Hamburgs and uses them for OH. I love those damn things. I have the Mc-012s as well and I think between the 2 of those mics, you got a ton covered. I will grab for the 012s pretty much everytime though.

Agreed. I for one, hope these things are direct clones. And a good point about the numbers. If we wern't trying to get in the ballpark of these legendary pres, why would we have the same numbers?
