i actually did a post a last week complaining that i DID have the "condom type" :D windscreens on, it was'nt that windy and we were gettting nasty wind popping.
My questions-
Is there a "superior" windscreen?
Should we try two windscreens?
Would multiple windscreens affect the sound?
Does...
ya know, i'm trying to establish myself as an acoustic-specialty service (sorta have to since i'm in the basement of a townhouse) and now that you mention it, a ribbon mic is a no-brainer. (since you had to mention it for me to consider it, that' tells you a bit about me.... ;)...
yeah, cheap as hell, all they need to do is hear you. get a sturdy one, as they do take abuse sometimes. (control room fights between the drummer and bassist over the mix, one grabs it as a weapon... don't ask....)
I used a pair of Octava 012's on a choir and they sounded great. When the wind was'nt blowing, that is. Don't know if other mics promise better wind rejection, but at $99 a pop, these babies are worth it. They come in a nice hard case with mic clips and a -10 db pad. And they sounded great on...
I have Cubasis for hte Tascam 428, and i've had some real problems with monitoring correctly. Sometimes i can hear what's coming through live, sometimes i can't. and i can't seem to boost the recorded tracks enough so that the overdubber can hear them, the live track is to powerful and i cant...
ya put your fat cord in, you take your thin cord out, you put your fat cord in and you shake it all about...
ya do the cordy pokey and you shake it all around....
that's what it's all about...
:D
so now that i have foam up on the wall behind the speakers, where should my next move be? insulation in the ceiling? absorbers for the standing waves? diffusers? bass traps?
and i can't move the walls, or build new ones, so how do i combat parralelism?
next i was going to install some sort of...
I've never been happy with close micing them either, and never had a pair of small condensors, but i'd like to know how the xy does on congas, i did an acoustic guitar session the other night and after 4 or 5 other positions, i went back to the good ol' xy with two octava 012's and was happy...
How should i treat this room? In front of the couch is the "control room" behind and to the side of the couch is the "tracking room" and the vocal booth is the iso booth. I have 24 1x1 Auralex foam panels, adn 12 1x1 curved diffusers. i can build absorber boxes, but where should i place them...
Does anyone know if there are any "better than the average" windscreens out there? i have a pair of Octava MC012's, and i did an outdoor sound reinforcement gig with them, and even with some stock radio shack windscreens they were howling. the windscreens fit perfectly, and i backed them off the...
I could not agree more. It is sometimes too much to think about. Check out mags like Mother Jones and UTNE Reader, it'll blow your mind when you realilize some of the stuff that's going down in this world. Makes Behringer's practices look like a public service. And it's being done by...
Yeah, that La Plata. I don't live there anymore, but may parents still do. I took my drumset out of their garage last week, and sure enough, a big ole' tree crushed it. They live on 10 acres just outside of town, about 7 acres had trees. Key word- "had". They may have an acre of trees left, but...
"As far as the look of the Unit, it is a great layout so why not stick with it. They can’t sue you for the connectors, switches and LEDs, bezides, it’s a diferent color zcheme. "
There are cut and dry patent infringements and then there are infirngements which are not technically illegal but...
so here is my question for john...
..... on your page http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/pages/Low%20Frequencies.htm#panel
you stated that the depth of the box determines the frequency that it absorbs. how do you figure out exactly what frequencies you want to absorb? and can i...
I'm thinking the barbell ones would not work too well in terms of the "look" of it. for the choir mics, since they are behind the orchestra, i would not care, no one can see back there. for the orchestra mics, they will be very visible to the crowd, so maybe i should just buy one nics heavy...
Fellas and gals-
I'm going to be doing a remote recording/ live sound for a full orchestra/ choir, which is nothing too different for me, but this will be OUTSIDE! I've got my windscreens primed and ready to go, but i'm concerned about the mic stands falling over if it's windy. They will be...
i think a better poll would be
How much do you make as a recording engineer/studio owner?
A) <$10,000/yr
B) <$20,000/yr
C) <$30,000/yr
D) I'm supposed to get PAID?
Owning a studio is like owning a computer, every few years it's obsolete and you have to buy a new one... maybe not because your...
