    Bleem

Hey - good tune I agree with MM - the snare sounds a bit thin. I think I would have beefed up the bass with some more punch, especially at the riff around 3:15 with the guitar. Otherwise, good stuff!! mutt

    Digital out on Tascam 564

I have run my 564's digital out (SPDIF) to my SONY CD burner and had no problem. As far as I know there is no ON/OFF switch. I've never tried to connect it to a PC as my soundcard doesn't have SPDIF I/O. mutt

    Exciter/enhancer/sonic maximizer?????

Anyone know anything about running vocals thru an enhancer, or exicter, or sonic maximizer for a live performance?? What's the difference between these things (or do they pretty much do the same thing??) Someone told our guitar player that an exicter (I think he said exciter) would really beef...

    buy a vf-16??

Hey gritzy - thanks for the reply. Couple of questions. 1. Are there enough stereo rca ins and outs to handle all my stuff (CD burner, CD player, cassette deck, computer line in) 2. Can you cut and paste only a part of one track? On my current digital 4 track (a Tascam 564) I can sopy a...

    Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine...questions..

Hi Tel Like G.H. says, the best way to learn is to get in the manual and just play with the machine - but here's a couple of starters. 1. Go to Chapter 3.3 (Copy) [I'm now assuming that you haven't created any patterns or saved any patterns into the user section - if you have, press the...

    buy a vf-16??

I'm looking into moving up from my 4 track and I think I would be unhappy with only 8 tracks - so I'm looking into 16. I couldn't help but notice that the vf-16 is considerably cheaper than other 16 trackers by Roland and Yamaha. Any one out there with a vf-16 that has had a chance to compare...

    what about a laugh?

I heard a recent tape lately by a female singer, don't know her name, (kind of folk style, with accoustic guitar) doing a song called "Dyslexic" - only remember a couple of great lines - - "I fell in love with a man Otto was his name - Cause no matter how you spell it It always comes out...

    MIDI hookup

You will either have to go thru your joystick/parallel port (old midi connectors), or thru a midi box into your serial port or usb port (midiman type boxes) mutt

    My first MP3 in ages.

S8-N As you well know, I'm in the "over 50" set, so I will give you my somewhat biases opinion: 1. Where DID you find that drummer? He made my arms tired just listening to him. 2. I do think you could bring up the vocals in a few places - kinda buried. 3. I didn't know there were that...

    How does it work???

First, if you don't have one, you need an adapter cable that will connect to your joystick port connection (15 pin) split to two midi cables (5 pin each). They run around $25 - $30 and you should be able to get one at Radio Shack or Musician's friend, etc. The two midi cables are marked - one...

    A jazzy (sorta) song.

Hey Em I finally got it! Good stuff!! I think I agree with Kelly about the triangle but I would only do it around 2:15 where you go into the real quiet part. Maybe on the downbeat of every other measure through that little part. Definitely bring up the vocal in the middle where the guitar...

    blue balls

Dude!! I didn't realize that they had women like that in Montana. Whew! Oh, yes, the song - well, I'll bet you didn't go to the songwriter's forum for the lyrics. THe guitar work was good, now it needs some blues harp. Who was that masked women, anyway?? mutt

    Piano Vocal Piece

Gordo Kind of a Cat Stevens feel. Nice piano - the vocal needs some work. Add some reverb and a bit of delay. It felt like there was some uneveness in the rhythm from time to time also. Keep trying!!! mutt

    A jazzy (sorta) song.

Same as doc, it sent me to some listening room and a band called "Soul Miner's Daughter". (Is that you dressed up in drag, EM? HMMMMMMMM?) Tried listening to it hifi, but it kept cutting off after about 14 seconds. mutt

    compressor question

Hi Shailat When you say send/return of the mixer, are you speaking of an effects send, like I control the effects unit with? Is this the same situation as my reverb unit connection? (Patch cord from the effects send out - to the reverb input - out from the reverb - in to channel 6 on my...

    compressor question

I have a ART tube pac compressor/tube pre-amp which I like, but I can only run one mic thru it. It seems that the compressors I see in catalogs are one or two channels. I thought that a compressor must be connected from the mic, to the compressor, then to the mixing board. Or am I wrong...

Newbie Stand Alone CD Burner Questions

Hi Chris I just recently bought a Sony CDR-W33 stand alone burner. It came with rack mount ears (which I don't need). I've been very impressed with how easy it is to use and understand the manual. It can record digitally on to the cheapo discs (though the manual says to use CD-Audio discs)...
