mic choice for an odd application

Thanks for the input Mshilarious, but: One bud in the ear isn't going to work for me, I'm trying to protect both ears. We're using a really old, small powered mixer, the house mic through the board and out the monitor buss idea isn't going to work due to it's design limitations. Bill

mic choice for an odd application

Thanks for the suggestion, I just put one in the shopping cart over at Naiant. I'll wait a while before pulling the trigger and see if other suggestions come up, but the MSH-1O definitely looks worth trying. I have some other condensers at home, I was hoping to avoid phantom power, but if I have...

mic choice for an odd application

I've only tried this at home, seems like works so I'm going to try it tonight at a gig: It's sort a poor man's in-ear monitor system. I'll be setting an sm57 out in front of the band, facing the band. Run the mic to a crate powerblock, with an alesis 3630 comprssor in the effects loop, and then...

    Danelectro, anyone?

Some of them are a great value, but DO NOT BUY THE CORNED BEEF, it's terrible. The hashbrowns flanger, milkshake chorus, PB&J delay, and chicken salad vibrato are quite usable.

    Hart Studiomaster vs. Roland TD3

I just thought I'd update this post with the results of my search: I ended up getting the TD3 kit that has three toms and a mesh snare for $900. Spent another $240 on a nice Roc n Soc hydraulic throne and a Pearl Powershifter kick pedal (extremely happy with both, especially the pedal)...

    Hart Studiomaster vs. Roland TD3

Thanks for the responses. Bent Rabbit: Very helpful information about the pad noise, I play at very low volumes, so the less pad noise, the better. I see that the Hart kit comes with Ecymbal S studio series cymbals, I'll assume those are the ones you are talking about, the Roland comes with...

Instrument plugins for S4, orchestra and B-3

er.. nevermind. I should have searched before posting, I found an appropriate thread that mentioned both the Garritan and East/West Symphonic Orchestra. Then I found the demo of B4, I'm at work with crappy computer sound but it still makes me drool a little. Cheers, Bill

Instrument plugins for S4, orchestra and B-3

I've got $200 credit to blow at Guitar Center and I'm thinking expanding my virtual instrument choices in S4. I'm looking at Garritan Personal Orchestra for $249 and Native Instruments B4 for $199. Any comments or recommendations? I'd just like to goof around a bit with the orchestra and I...

    Demo S4 won't start up

Yeah, I was up till 1:00 am, I was surprised at similar the user interface is to Home Studio, almost no learning curve! My very first impression was, hmmm, maybe I don't need Sonar 4, but as the night wore on, seduction took place. Thanks again for your help with this, James.

Should I upgrade to Sonar 4

I highly recommend that you download the Sonar 4 demo. Bill

    Demo S4 won't start up

Wanabe: Thanks, you nailed it. As it happens, due to my reading of a thread that James had me read, I tried this last night only instead of the toolbar folder, I deleted everything, under "Sonar 4" in the registry. I also did one other thing during the installation setup (answered "no" when it...

    Demo S4 won't start up

No, I hadn't read that thread. The thought of wiping my drive and starting fresh makes me physically ill . :) My wife wouldn't like it either. As far as moving folders and such mentioned in the thread goes, I can't see where that would keep the demo from booting, can you? The registry...
