    not working

If the dropout meter isn't lighting it sounds like the signal isn't getting into the PC. As suggested, check your connections..... There might also be a problem with the soundcard.... but it doesn't sound like a Sonar issue. Good luck.

How to receive files (to PC) from Keyboard?

Good news! While forums like this are helpful (saved me a few headaches anyway!!), the best research is you. Sounds like you are doing the right thing by feeding your head with info about audio/midi while you take a hands-on approach to checking your instruments/connections/functions. Hope...

    not working

Anything, Does the red DROPOUT indicator light up? If so, you may be overtaxing the system. I rarely record directly into the computer, but some info that may help people (and me) help you here would be: How many mic ins are you recording at once? What sample rate and bit depth? Speed/type...

How to receive files (to PC) from Keyboard?

Well it is good that you can send info.... that's a start. The way I track stuff down is to vary one parameter at a time.... see if that's it, then (unless I have a good...very good.... reason not to) I set the parameter back to where it was and vary a different parameter. Check one thing at a...

How to receive files (to PC) from Keyboard?

To start to understand midi, try this link: http://www.cakewalk.com/tips/desktop.asp In Acid Pro, if you go to Options/preferences....there is a tab called midi.... if you click that tab, your midi ports should be available to check off (in order to activate them from within the program)...

How to receive files (to PC) from Keyboard?

Don't mean to be insulting but you do mean Midi data and not audio data? (In part I ask because I am not sure why you would generally want to send midi data to SF as it is primarily an audio editing program) To send midi data to Acid, go to options, midi and select your midi source (check the...

FYI: Dakota support for Sonar v4 new features....

I was floored to find out the midi ports weren't multiclient. I used to open my synth editor from within Sonar. Could edit and save the synth patches and see what effect edits were having right as the sequence was playing. Not anymore! :( In most other respects, IMHO, FD has been a pretty...

FYI: Dakota support for Sonar v4 new features....

They make a product called Tango that has analog ins.... you can connect that, via lightpipe to your computer (ie, their soundcard.) Overall a pretty good company. Their hardware is very solid. In the past (IMHO) their driver development has been slow, hopefully this reflects a change of...

Being a long time Cake user.... my order was in as soon as I got the e-mail :D ..... Can't wait for some of these upgrades. Really looking forward to track folders and freeze function. Take Care!

    Mastering on Sonar 3

IMHO the two elements which make up mastering are: 1) Fine tuning the stereo track, after it is a stereo track (after all the tweaks, eq, spatial enhancement etc to the individual tracks--which I consider mixing). 2) Matching the tracks of different songs so they sound like they belong...

    Mastering on Sonar 3

I would consider that mixing and not mastering, and it may or may not be sophisticated.... kinda depends on how well it is done. (I gather, by track, you mean individual instrument tracks within the context of a song as you talked about making them into fewer tracks and preping for final...

    JV1010 Exp boards ins. HELP

In addition to the manual, go here: http://www.rolandus.com/products/details.asp?CatID=8&SubCatID=37&ProdID=XV-5050&PageMode=19 download the fill on selecting exp cards.... it has all the info you need to make this happen. It is no problem to do this with Sonar and an XV5080 with 6 expansion...

Recommend Synth for Live Horn Section

To make that type of sound, something that is sample playback as is the Kurz you mentioned, is almost certainly the way to go (IMHO).... but ultimately your ears should decide. If you like the sound of the PCR2, buy it. It doesn't seem devoted much to the type of sounds you want, but it may do...

    Garritan Personal Orchestra

Garry, true enough. That is one of the differences. Some people say that the brass in EWQLsilver is a bit better for "modern" or pop work than than brass in GPO. They are both good libraries. I think there are demos or at least demo mp3s..... they may help you decide. I don't think you'd go...

Recommend Synth for Live Horn Section

So you want to play horns in a live band? There are lots of synths that do horns okay..... as with many sampled instruments, they will have their limitations, but stabs, short riffs etc. are a strength of many horn libraries. (generally, any solo work will sound kinda weak) What is the PCR2...

    Garritan Personal Orchestra

If you are just after pianos, there are a couple of NI interfaced plug ins that are piano based and I think they may be a bit better.... but you'd have to listen to the demos to decide. I have GPO... and a piano, so I don't use it for the piano. The instrument samples are good but as Garry...

Just Got Sonar 3...should I expect trouble?

All software has problems.... Sonar is no exception. The people who post here either have something strange going on (old drivers, unusual conflict with video card, multiple sound cards etc.) or they are trying to do something unusual... (I am trying to run a loop for 9,000 measures and Sonar...

    Any Roland Experts?

Okay, going half and half here. Roland manuals suck.... no question there.... they are the butt of many jokes and much frustration. However, lots of manuals suck.... ever read one by Yamaha? Let's face it, these are complicated pieces of gear.... but you'd think they'd spend a bit more time on...

    Any Roland Experts?

Well, it probably is described in the manual, but some of the terms are slightly technical. For example, a dump generally refers to a sysex dump.... which is a universal method of saving (and if you are smart and know what you are doing [I am not sure how] of manipulating that data) so why you...

    Midi Madness

Drum machine midi out to midi in on MT4 Drum maching midi in to midi out on MT4 Everything else, midi in connected to midi out on MT4. Make sure the drum machine is set up to be the master for midi machine control(MMC) and your sequencer is set up to be the MMC slave. That should do it. Take Care
