jazz tune if you'd care to listen...

Thanks for the reply and comments drstrawl...I do appreciate the honesty. It is a Band in Box arrangement. I entered the chord changes and did some midi-editing with the drum track and BiB did the rest as far as bass, piano and horn. Thanks for the tip on embellishing the horn solo; I'll see...

jazz tune if you'd care to listen...

I have a new song posted at the following web site, under the title "First Time". If anybody would care to listen and comment I'd be extremely grateful. It's a guitar-oriented swing/jazz thing. I know the mix isn't very hot and I've worked on a re-mix which will be posted in the next day or...

    Throwing myself to the lions!

OK recording gurus...I'm a couple months into this digital recording thing and have a light latin/jazz tune posted on mp3.com. The tune was recorded using PowerTracks 5.0 (PT Music's $30 wonder) and a Dman 2044 sound card. I have no monitors to speak of so comments on the mix would be much...

    reverb phase??

I recently did a mix of a multi-track wave file to a stereo wave file, adding a small amount of reverb to the mix. In playing back the wave there was some weird "phase-like" effect going on, especially when the crash cymbals sounded. Any ideas what's causing it and how to remedy?

Need a quality pro audio card for under $300

If you don't need a midi input, the Dman 2044 by Midiman has 4 ins and 4 outs and you can get it mail order for $250 +/-. I haven't completed a project yet, but what I have so far seems to be fairly noise free. Please keep in mind that I have no basis of comparison with other sound cards...

    Effects for hd recording

I'm using PowerTracks, which unfortunately is not compatible with Direct X plugins. I tried running my guitar through my Digitech RP 7 but there was a noticeable difference in the noise level as opposed to "dry". Any suggestions on what to use for compressor, delay, etc.? I guess I'm really...

    unwanted distortion

Here is my setup: Guitar goes into a Digitech RP 7 preamp/effects, no distortion; just clean jazz sound. Out of RP7 into Dman 2044 soundcard. Running PowerTracks 5.0. I'm getting unwanted distortion (sounds like recording level is too high) on the guitar. This is not "noise" that you would...

    why multiple outputs?

I realize this is a newbie question but, what is the advantage of multiple outs on a soundcard? For example, I believe the Gina card has 2 analog inputs and several (8-10) outputs. Why? I can see a couple of outputs for recording on to another medium in stereo but why 10? Thanks for the help...

    why pc-based over workstation?

I'm trying to figure out if, and why, investing in a good sound card (which runs anywhere from $400-700 and up)and using my PC , perhaps in conjunction with my old tascam 4-track cassette, as a multi-track system is better than spending a very small amount more (perhaps $200) and getting a...
