Does anybody know the approximate weight of a 1/2" 2500' reel of tape? Calculating some shipping costs so I don't get taken for a ride.

Its not even the lack of 206. As miroslav said, finding a bulk source for it is unrealistic (although I am aware of one), and in 1/2" isn't easier. But please go on eBay, the local Cincinnati craigslist, or anything else, and start looking for one source to buy 4-6 reels from for less than 500...

Bump. Could really use some help sourcing this guys, already missed my first window of opportunity to record this year due to lack of 1/2" tape, and the second is coming up in 4 weeks. If I can't find at least 4-5 nos reels here soon I'm considering an indefinite hiatus from all recording...

I'm assuming your mixer goes out to the PC via usb. If so, my Tascam interface required driver software. If there's no USB hookup you need some type of interface to get your master to the PC.

I think the matrix/buss/submix can get confusing sometimes. That's my only gripe with it. I actually don't use the buss/matrix system to send to the multitrack (80-8). I run all mics in xlr and send each channel individually to the multitrack from the direct outs and send it back through the tape ins for mixdown to the 2 track through the sumbix outs, which went back in to the submix...

So, I basically treat the space echo like my master machine? But instead of sending the output of the echo to the submix in, it goes to the 1st and 2nd buss? So I guess I would click the 1st matrix button on my desired track, hit post to run it through the buss, in to the corresponding submix...

Analog doesn not equate to or mean lo-fi. In actuality, some may consider analog hi-fi, and superior as well. Not that you can't achieve a lo-fi sound easier with say a cassette deck.

He did say it had 4 hours of testing at 7.5 IPS. So we'll see how she handles at 15 for longer periods of time, then asses, then clean, and setup for 203.
