i believe lower latency uses more CPU but tightens up the playing. I use low latency for midi (Drums, keys) and raise it for audio. Not sure why your buffer can't go lower. I set it at 11.5 for midi. But I have Sonar 5 PE. I would think you can go to audio in Sonar 4, not sound card and set...

AS a newbie, I'm glad I was blindly steered to BFD. It just worked. And pretty good for a beginner. I would have never figured that out. It took me major concentration just to read this thread. Though the product sounds great. Hope they do make a DXi version for Sonar so i can try.

Finally got system working good. I want to try vocals. By reading threads its seems a decent cheaper start would be sm-58. (better for vocal than sm-57) Did I read right. Any other ideas. Also, any ideas for preamp to power the mic. Thanks

Amplitube has smaller version for 80 bucks. than you can upgrade. Its pretty good.
